are some people destined to be poor?

I think there are some people who are predisposed to poverty. I know of some people who were given blessings left and right but who lose these blessings because of mishandling or because of the close-mindedness or the narrow thinking of the person. They neglect to give value to these blessings and they just don't give a damn, so they go back to zero, back to poverty. This made me think that some people are really meant to be poor forever because of their thinking and attitude.

I do not believe in predestination since we can really become rich if we really want to. It is a matter of choice that determines what outcome would you like to in your life. Why is there poor is because they do not exert more effort to get out of their situation. Some becomes more comfortable in their situation that becomes their reality. I guess for someone that wants to be out is they have to change themselves for the better and make an informed and educated choices in life. That may sound difficult but if you do away that kind of thinking it is difficult it is actually easy after all. That is why predestination is really not the right term for it but I guess it is individual's choices in life that determines what outcome that person will be in the future.

Hmmm, it's kind of a mean thing to say that some people are MEANT to be poor because it's like saying that they DESERVE it. Truly, some people lack awareness of how to properly handle money and the others that you mentioned, but poverty is a multi-leveled issue that can't be tackled from a simplified perspective. There are more socio-economic and multi-cultural factors that determine one's bracket in the social strata of society, hence it is not something predestined: being poor is not woven by mere fate but by the various facets such as socio-economic and cultural factors.

Sorry if I come across as mean, but I really don't mean to say that they DESERVE it. NO. What I mean is, some of people just won't get rich no matter what blessings come their way because of certain habits of the mind that stop them from growing these blessings.

Yes there are many rich people living today, who are deceptively poor. Some of the richest of these are so poor, they live from hand to mouth. Mother Teresa had nothing but the clothes on her back and she was one of the richest women who ever lived. Most of the very rich, despise possessions, preferring instead, to live on the verge of starvation. Our world today would be much poorer, without the riches of these desperately poor! Jesus was an example of a poor man who was rich in Spirit but poor in worldly goods. In fact it is because of such people, poor in worldly goods, that our world is so rich in spirit.

There are really people who are destined to be poor (even since birth). What you described above is another story wherein people have just wasted the opportunity to fulfill their dreams to be become rich or perhaps they were already rich even since birth, but because of their bad lifestyle habits or choices, i.e., spending money a lot everyday, eventually they became poor. It is not destined but rather being improvident. However, there might be a reason behind of it. Perhaps, God wants to discipline them and later realized that what they have done before is not right. In this way, they may be able to realize the true meaning of life (our purpose here on earth) and change their life for a better. It is really a great privilege to become a poor because poor people are much more blessed for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. This is one of the best blessings that you could get than those temporary blessings (material things or others) we received here on earth.

Yes I agree with you. They don't know how to handle their finances and they don't think of their future. If they have a handful of money, what they do is to spend it right away...one day millionaire, to be exact! The next day, what they do is to beg for help from others.

no body is destined to be poor, its in everybodies power to change their life for the better. I started off with nothing living in a tiny council house on a rough estate and worked my way up. Some people when they get a bit of money just spend it on stuff they don't need. In one hand then out of the other.

i don't think that there are people who are destined to be poor. though lots of people are born poor. its up to them how to uplift themselves from poverty through their hard work.

i guess no. maybe due to mishandling of the parents thats why, specially those parents who have lots of kids inspite of being poor. if a person really want to do something with their life then he can, only if they believe they can do it. they might be poor now but someday they can change their life if they work hard to have a good life. but if they are just contented being poor then they will really stay poor their whole life.

I have known people who are like that - squander every cent that they have on the first day they receive their paycheck, and then spend the rest of the month miserably waiting for another paycheck the following month. I have also known people who are born in rich families, not wanting to hold a proper job and just spend money off the family. Somehow, I think these people need a hard knock on the heads to wake them up. They don't know how unpredictable life can be. Hopefully some day they do, and rise above poverty.

I don't think there are people that are meant to be poor, I think in this life you can do anything you want, with hard work you can do anything in this life, said that some people are meant to be poor is put a label on them, making them think that there is something wrong with them so they will be poor, everybody makes right and wrong decisions in life, which bring consequences, but the most important thing, is that if we are going through difficult situations be able to get out of there.

The only people that are destined to poorness in my mind are those that live in extremely suppressive countries/ those that are mentally challenged. They really are not 100% destined to poorness, but they are 99.99999% destined to poorness. Its really sad, I myself have had alot haded to me, and It's really easy to let it all blow over, but you have to work hard for what you get. I peronsonally think that people just have an easier time getting what they need, which is really unfair I mean someone who grew up going to the best school vs someone who grew up in the ghetto could have the same amount of brains, but they never had the same chance.

well, if you put it in that way, of course some people does "throw away" the money and they end up poor. but also, that happens with money, if you see the buying and selling like a game, then there must be someone to lose, and indeed that happen. one lose the money (for adquiring a product, paying debt, etc), and another gain it. and if you add to that game the anouncment like "traps" to get the money (or more money), then you´ll see that some people is more used to fall in those "traps" that other (if i get it right, those are the one you say are the "destined to be poor"). so in a point of view, yes there is someone that have to lose, because they can be a all-win in a game. the one that used his money well and wisely, the more he can gain, and that dosen´t mean you have to start with alot of it (but is a good handicap tough)
