In the past, I had participated in many discussions about weight because, as a lot of you know, I always struggled with trying to gain weight since the day I was born, pretty much! However, I can tell you that I really don't struggle with it anymore. What is my secret, you may ask? Getting married! I know that sounds really funny, but I've already gained at least 20 lbs. since I got married. I don't know what it is about my new habits since July 2009, but I think some of it is that everything in the pantry, fridge, and freezer is things I like to eat! My husband and I also keep tons of snacks and sweets in our TV room where we eat dinner and relax each night. That temptation probably doesn't help, I'm sure! I don't want to discount other things we can try to help us gain weight, but marriage definitely did it for me. For those of you who have gotten married, did you find similar results? Did you lose weight? Did you stay the same? I'm interested to see whether or not I'm the only one who had this experience. Thanks in advance for sharing!

I know weight is a very sensitive issue and I am glad you are gaining weight like you want to,and me and my wife got married back in September and I do not think I lost or gained weight when I got married,I think I stayed about the same because my wife had been living with me for 2 years prior so we already had gotten our eating habits, the thing that has made me lose weight is my job at Wal Mart,I swear I walk at least 10 miles a day,and when I started Wal Mart I was at like 200 pounds and now I weigh like 185,so that is pretty good if you ask me,and maybe I will be able to sweat off a few more pounds this summer.

Hi there! I'm glad your job has provided a great workout for you and hope you've reached your desired weight. You're right - weight certainly is a sensitive issue. Whenever I heard the word a few years back, I'd get so frustrated because it was like I could try anything I wanted, and it wouldn't make any difference at all...like I was wasting my time. I hated that, but once I got married, I have no idea what changed, but I gained like 20 or 30 much-needed pounds and have kept most of it on in the two years since getting married. It's still not my ideal weight, but hey, I'll take what I can get, and I know it'll come someday without me even noticing...by then, I'll want to get the weight off lol. I'm still waiting for that day. Thanks for your response!!

lol...yes, I gained weight after I was married....even before I had kids. Now, after two kids, I'm trying to lose weight in certain areas. More than snacking, I think it's the contentment and happiness that made me gain weight. But each time I was pregnant, I was hungrier than usual...but I used to control what i had.

I'm interested to see once I get pregnant with our first child what kind of cravings my body comes up with - LOL. I'm not doing too good as it is with cravings. Chocolate is the main culprit. ha ha However, the weight is ok so far. We'll see about that once kids come along!

hi jj4ever oh yes I did that too but at that time I was still trim and not overweight, but beware the baby weight gain, as that can do you in if you do not get most of it off, we tend to serve better meals to our families in that w e make healthier food than restaurants do and we all benefit to gaining unless we gain more then we should then we must cut down on the good food, But keeping on baby fat then gaining more as you have another baby too soon is not good . I became overweight and in my fifties I became a diabetic,.type two, from heredity and also from too much weight. so when you are slim, try not to get too big, hit the right weight and keep it down as overweight tends to make people diabetic and right now is the time to stay trim and eat right and exercise some every day.If I have helped to save oneor two from becoming diabetic I am glad.

You are so thoughtful! Thanks for the good advice because I was thinking that if I gained that much weight just by getting married, just think how much I'll put on having children! (LOL) You bring up a lot of good points. I cook a lot more now than even when I lived on my own for a year because now I have a hubby to cook for. Every once in a while we'll eat out, but like you said, it's so much cheaper and easier to eat at home most of the time. Now I need to work on my husband because he's still just as skinny if not even lighter than when we got married! I don't know why, but we went the opposite way - I gained, he lost. What is up with that? Anyhow, I guess I just need to keep up the good cooking for his sake! Thanks again so much for your thoughtful response, my friend!

Hey there! I know it's been at least a year since this discussion, but I'm just curious how things are going for you? I certainly hope you're doing well, and that you're able to reach your weight goals.
