The students I am teaching are deaf to my orders and requirements. They do this not because they don't like me but they don't want to do what I ask them to do. I never scold my students but love them, however, the other teachers would yell at them when they are not good and the students were afraid of being yelled at and obey the rules willingly. But in my class, they know what I feel about them. So they would give no consideration to the disciplines of class. By the way, I want to say my students have reached a great achievement in their exams. If it is not the priciple's emphases on the orders of class, I would let the students do what they want. Now I am trying to make my students understand me and obey the orders the principle worshipped which I disagreed the most. How should I interpret the message to my students without give them too much pressure in the class?

..hi.. being a teacher is very difficult.. you must know how to appropriately give consequences and commands to you students.. In your case, I guess, you're being too open for them.. sometimes, you really have to get angry to let them know that what they're doing is bad.. you have to correct them the way it should be.. loving your student is one more responsibility.. I say responsibility because if you love someone, you will everything to help them succeed even to the point that you have to hurt their feelings just so that they will learn.. you're the teacher and you're the person in command.. In the school that I'm working, I salute this teacher who establishes her command at the very beginning of the school year.. she tells them her rule in the class and what she expects from the class.. so for me, you should not be afraid of hurting your students' feelings by correcting their mistakes.. you're considered as the second parent.. for example in the house, the parents spank their children to teach them a lesson.. because parents always want the best for their children and part of that is disciplining them and teaching them to be responsible for their actions.. just like you, you have to teach them that there are consequences of displaying bad attitude or disobedience.. after all, what students remember would be the teacher who made a difference in their life.. your student will forget you afterward if you haven't tried to help them change for the better.. again, part of being a teacher is instilling discipline, values, and responsibilities to your students.. love does not mean, you have to be careful not to hurt their feelings.. love would mean helping them to learn how to live and the reality of life they are facing..

..with regards to your activities, you can let them have a research in the library about the topic and have a group discussion in the class wherein they will present the things they've discovered about the topic.. also, you can let them have a debate regarding the topic.. that way, they could interact with each other and you won't need to talk the whole time..

Class rules are there for a reason. Order and calm are essential to a healthy learning enviornment, and most students absolutly need this to suceed. It looks like you weren't stern enough when you started teaching this class, and they have took over. If you don't set ground rules from day one, this happens. Why do you disagree with the school's principal? You are making more work for your co-workers when they have to disipline your class for you. It's easier to be tough in the beginning, and ease off a little as the school year progresses. You are not there to be cool and make friends, you are there to teach and to be a leader and example.

Hi there captainjulier... I would suggest to you to add something different that would make the students enjoy more your subject... Add some sort of video presentations, interactive stuffs or even games that are related to the topic of the discussion... That would really do great. xD
