Why Is The Cure Worse Than The Problem?

I'm on some pills for a kidney infection, and they're knocking me out. I am supposed to take them four times a day, and they make me feel like my bleeping head is on upside down, and backwards. I've had hangovers that feel better than this, and I've only been on 'em for a day and a half. I have to put up with this $h!t for 8 and a half more days. DAMN! Just when I start feeling normal, it's time to take another one.
Anyone else ever have this problem with pills? How do you handle it until you're done taking 'em?

I was once prescribed a different brand of bp pills which also nearly knock me off. Each time when I take the pills my head spin and I see stars. I went back to the doctor and he found out that the pills are too strong for me and he changed another brand which I am still taking until now.

I'm on some heavy duty pain killers that knock me for six when I am on them for any length of time. I have found that the only way I can function sometimes is to either reduce my dose or just sleep though it. Ok, so reducing the dose isn't a good idea really but if you need to , then take to your bed and sleep :-D

Every single medication has its side effect. Some are mild, some are very nasty. If you have strange side effects you have to contact your doctor. I am assuming that you are taking antibiotic, right? Your doctor can change the prescription, so the side effects are not going to ruin your life.

I call the doc and tell them "This ain't workin'"
Generally my doc will get me something different - if its out there
I'm sure there are different antibiotics that you could take - of course, your doc may be less interested in your problems, I can always go back to doc shopping if I'm not happy

That's pretty much how I feel right now with this awful sinus infection, like my bleeping head is on upside down, and backwards. LOL Seriously though, my head feels so blown up like a balloon like it's about to go POP! I'm on Z-Pac which is an antibiotic which will knock it right out in a day or two but not soon enough. However, you, it sounds like you could be having an allergic reaction to the antibiotic that you're taking. Please do check out the side effects online and see what it says and maybe you can tell if it's normal or not. It doesn't sound right and you should call your doctor and let him/her know.
A wish for the both of us....
GET WELL SOON!!

Wow!! If I was on something that was supposed to help me feel better, but making me feel like this, I would be doing some research and seeing if this is an allergic reaction, or be talking with my Doctor and getting something different for it as well. Personally since I have a lot of issues it seems with Medications out there I have learned to be proactive, and think it is quite wise for sure. Do hope things are getting better for you.

Sometime back I was getting red patches on my body and great itching was to follow that. Doctor game me some small tablet for that. The moment I took that, a heat passed over my head and I started feeling giddy. Whenever I got this problem, I had to take that tablet and I had to suffer all these side effects. Finally my sister said eat carrots a lot and take lot of water. By God's grace, I became alright soon.

when i had anxiety, i have to maintain this pill as prescribed by the doctor, but i had no problem in taking it and so far, i am fine and no more anxiety. maybe, it could be that your pill is a bit strong for you, just like what zandi had told, and so the doctor replaced it with another medicine. had your doctor knows about this problem of yours, with your medicine?

I usually avoid prescription pills at any cost unless it is for something I have to take because my body won't beat the problem on its own. The last one I was on was for a sinus infection. It actually made me feel 10 times worse than the symptoms I was already experiencing. I suffered through it but wouldn't do it again unless I absolutely had to. Guess thats why I avoid going to the doctor. Get less useless pills that way.

Sleep. Simply sleep it off is what I do when I do not feel well. However, I imagine you are running to the lou an awful lot so maybe sleeping is out of the question for poor you. It is only 8 days, hang in there is all I can tell you. And Cranberry juice is your friend. Drink up!
I hope you are feeling better.

I agree with the others. You should let your doctor know how they're affecting you. Some side effects are to be expected, but it sounds like yours is extreme. The pills could be too strong... or double check the prescription. I've heard instances of the pharmacy giving the wrong medication. Ask the doctor (or pharmacist) what color, size and shape they should be.

I had a kidney infection way back in college, but I don't remember the pills knocking me out like that. Maybe you should check with your doctor or pharmacist. My sister had that problem once (pills knocking her for a loop) and it turned out that she was given the wrong pills.
