When you see a newbie here with 0 points which in other words someone who is new here do you get the feeling that they are beginners? They may be beginners here but in real life they could be far superior to all the veterans here put together. It is better to watch them closely as they may come out with some fantastic discussions and fantastic responses. Are you with me on this?

as a newbie myself, I have to say that we can also look at it from another perspective. Sometimes I see a person in a forum (here or otherwise) and it can become apparent quickly that even though he has posted over a thousand times, he doesn't know any more than someone who has posted 20. Some people enjoy reading what others have to say and don't feel the need to add anything. Others can't seem to not post, whether they contribute anything worth while or not. At least, that's how I see it.

That goes for both the new and the old. If they do not participate they are losers but I wonder why they are here anyway!

I can agree with this. I have seen many people like this. They are just either not interested in replying to a comment or just don't feel like it. I say newbies unite!

Hi allknowing, I never deny or delayed the friend request just because of the member is new here. I tried my best to support new people here. At the same it is disappointing to see the number is same with them after a particular period. I replied their pm with suggestions then also one member is still inactive. All of us were once new here so I respect all people equally. I have special care to old members and older people.

Personally there could be a lot of reasons why we see people in here with a 0 along side their name. Maybe they have recently deleted another account in here for some reason, or just someone who developed a New account and not posted in here yet and trying to see what they need to do, or someone who may be dormant as well. Usually for me, I tend to watch some of the New people in here with a 0 or low number next to their name to see how active they are going to be, and what type of discussions they may choose to start here as well. You never know who the Great posters of tomorrow are going to be until they get here sometimes.

All of us were beginners in the beginning of joining mylot. So I never look down upon newbie. He is new member because he joined mylot only now. But he may be anything in higher cadre. He will have his own capacities and merits.

hi allknowing, You got it right! I always keep in mind that people I meet here (especially on discussions) came from different background and experiences. Not because they are new in here it means that we are far superior from them and that we know better. Actually, I found a couple newbies in here the other day who are very witty and smart. I learn a lot of things from different people and same goes with newbies of mylot. Although the older ones in here really knows how mylot works and I thank them as well for giving some tips on how to have a wonderful time on mylot.

I agree with you. One needs time to learn the ropes about how myLot is working but discussions and responses could be great even if they are newbies.

Good to know that you have observed it. There is a tendency to think otherwise.

In my opinion anyone who is new to a site is a newbie. However we can't avoid that there were members of this site who for some reason lost their account and started with a new one and they are the exception. But in general those who became members of the site begin as newbies. Now to me a newbie does not have to be someone who is clueless, and keeps asking questions which are already in the TOS, and don't have a lot of ideas to start a discussion. There are newbies who have a lot of ideas and well express themselves well. But they are still newbies. Cheers!

that is true. i am with you on that. i think i have seen afew on here that seem like thaty are new but they have some amazing discussions and they are probably pretty advanced with mylot in general. i am also sure they have been on mylot for awhile but mabey have a new start with it. but i am not all that sure. although there are not many that will be found. so it is hard to really know.

Hello Allknowing! Newbies could be just that, new at this forum type discussion or they might have been part of other forums, thus not newbie to the idea of discussions. It shows from the start if they're new to participating in forum like discussions or not. Yes some do come up with great ideas for discussions and to be honest with you, I dont really pay attention as to if someone has been an old timer or newbie, I'll answer to a discussion I feel I can bring something to or learn something from. I'll say though if someone comes up with a great discussion, Im not shy to let them know that its an interesting one......newbie or not.

I suppose it is a good thing to go by discussions rather than who has started them.

I'm completely with you on this. I've seen a lot of people in the thousands who write absolutely horrible discussions that I just can't understand and don't go anywhere. I'm new here but I don't consider myself a complete newbie :). It's true, there are constantly new members coming here, some of them are bound to be amazing review writers and discussion starters. You shouldn't underestimate the newbies!

I agree with you totally. You had a very nice way of thinking. I'm also new here, that happens many times in different places : online games, forums, websites and so on. I can also say that happens many times also in life, happened to me once to see a guy waiting on in a row in front of me in a office, he was what we would call a rasta, with strange clothes and he had that particular dumb face/look. the waiting got longer for some bad organizzation of the office, people started complaining and did he a little louder, one of the dirigents seeing him complaining and his stupid apparence made fun of him in a hidden way, we were all amazed when we found out the guy was about to graduate from university and had an excellent was of speaking, and with a few words just shout the dirigent's mouth, we were all like :O .

Newbies need not look dumb. Their discussions would show that they have brains like any others. But there is a tendency to ignore them.

I am a newbie, just registered yesterday. I am looking for a section where I can introduce myself first before joining in the discussions. Unluckily I did not find one, so I just welcome myself and hit my first post on my very first day. Hello everyone! ^-^

I'm I newbie. This is actually my very first post. I've known about MyLot just very recently, and had only today found a time to check it more seriously. On the topic, yes, I very much agree with you. Everyone starts out as a newbie at something but they could probably be experts on other things. Being a newbie means your first step in doing something great.

there are those guys out here that are only active being threadstarters...in which their post would not register in their username, i'm not sure if the discussion would be counted in their earnings... but i guess so
