What do you eat for lunch during your break?

Most of my colleagues just bring sandwiches with them; others do not bring anything at all and buy food from the school canteen. Lately I have been fed up of taking sandwiches for lunch break. Therefore I asked my better half, if it is possible to have a portion of the daily dinner to take it with me to work. For some reason or another, my packed lunch has become the talk of the day between my colleagues. What do you eat for lunch during your break? Do you prefer healthy food or junk food bought from a canteen or take away?

Hey friend, I work at my own shop in the market from 9.00 am to 10.00 pm. In between from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm is my break time when I go home to take fresh foods as my lunch. As a Bangladeshi, I prefer boiled rice with fish/meat/vegetable curries/fries. I don't like taking junk/fast foods during normal food intake time. They're ideal for emergency situation. I love home-made foods very much. Moreover, they're safe, hygienic and healthful. Have a healthy eating.

Hi Ronaldinu, Thank you very much for trying to consume home-made foods. I wish you the best of luck. Have a nice day.

I take my own lunch to work. It's either sandwiches (I try to vary the fillings as much as possible - current favourite is brie and grapes!) with a piece of fruit and a yogurt, or I take soup with some bread, or I may make myself a nice big salad. I'm lucky in that we have a microwave at work so I sometimes cook a baked potato at home and then warm it up at work and have it with cheese or baked beans. If you have no warming-up facility, you could always take soup in a flask. You can get wide-mouthed flasks for hot food too although I'm always a bit dubious about keeping food warm for any length of time.

The flask is a good idea to keep soups or liquids hot. Thanks for the idea.

My lunch has been the talk of the day at my internship aswell. On wednesday nights I have college from about 6 pm to 10 pm. I don't like to rush from my internship to school and hastidly shove my dinner down before I get to class. Therefore I'd much rather have my dinner during my lunchbreak and eat a sandwhich when I am at college. On other days I usually eat sandwiches because I work in daycare and eat along with whatever the kids are served which is usually sandwiches but occaissonaly also pancakes or soup.

PLus it's econmical on one's wallet, and not forgetting to enjoy the comfort of eating in a quiet enviroment, when everybody is out there jossling for seats.. haha =D

I know at Wal Mart there are people who will pack lunches and eat in the associate lounge, and others will take their lunch in Subway, and others will leave and either go home or to one of the many restaurants around since there are a lot of restaurants close to Wal Mart, when it comes to me on days I work mornings my wife will pack me a lunch to save money, and I will eat lunch in my dads truck talking to my wife, when I work nights,I will eat lunch in Subway since it is close by,and it is cheaper, and healthier than other restaurants, and I love the Ham and Cheese sub,and now I love the cheese personal pan pizza from Subway which is all I ever get when I am in Subway.

I would prefer to take healthy food then the other foods like sandwiches or canteen/cafeteria food. That way you also know what your eating. And you know it is good for you.

I usually bring a couple of sandwiches and an apple to eat during the lunch break, but sometimes, when I wake up late and I rush out the door, I buy something form a bakery. I don't think it's weird or something to bring cooked food, why should that be wrong? I used to bring some cooked food too, but it depends on the food, not things that are very "liquid", so it won't leak in my bag.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. That's what my mother have always taught me! I would not like that my school things would be soiled either. So I try to avoid liquids too.

Our school's cafeteria has salads. Once in a great while, I will eat a salad. I prefer to bring a sandwich of low salt or no salt peanut butter or leftovers from the night before. I really don't like take-out for school. Take-out, like food from a fast food place like McD's tends to have lots of salt in it.

it is common to have heavy lunch in our place. you have rice with fish or pork or vegetables cooked in different dishes. usually, i go home at lunch time to eat with my wife and the kids. there are restaurants and food stores in the vicinity of the building where i work but it is good to eat with my family.

What I eat, if ever I eat at all, during lunch break depends on my schedule and workload which varies everyday. If my schedule isn't too tight or my work isn't that loaded, I will eat a full meal. Otherwise, I will just have a banana or a sandwich o some cookies and a cup of coffee or a glassful of water for lunch. Then I would just eat again after work, if ever I feel hungry again, or when I arrive home.

I take sandwiches with me every day. Usually my meal consists of three sandwiches (1 meat and 2 cheese), 5-6 cookies and some juice. I usually fill myself in the morning during breakfast, so the lunch is just to keep me going for 3-4 hours before the day ends and I can go home and fill myself up once again :) Plus, the food they give to us at school costs too much so I rather keep it at sandwiches.

I usually take anything I can find in the fridge. The meat and cheese types always vary, sometimes it's cheddar and pork, sometimes it's emmental and beef etc. I am a big fan of all kinds of cheese so I like to experiment with different cheese from time to time.

you must be packign some real great food to be the talk of the office for a couple of days. lol! otherwise, you have officemates who live very boring lives that if one of their colleagues brings to the office his own food, this is such a big deal and everyoen makes a fuss about it. hahahaha!!! kidding aside, i usually bring my own food. this way, i know that i'm eating healthy and at the same time able to save some cash. eating out can be very expensive and unhealthy, physically and financially, lol so bringing my own lunch answers those issues. it really depends on the meal plan that i have for the week. usually, i have either some tuna, liek a sandwich or a salad or i have some oatmeal. on the rare days, that i do eat out, i usually just order a cup of rice and a vegetable dish from the office canteen. if this is not possible, i have a sandwich. just noticed though here in the office, if it is a day after getting the salary, everyone opts to lunch out. lol! everyone feels they have some extra cash to spare to splurge. i, on the other hand, jsut stick to my meal plan and not splurge. nothing against my officemates who do that but for me its just silly to splurge when you have some cash and not think about saving it instead. it's just the miser in me talking there. lol!

Hhahaha I bet they are too lazy to pack some home cooked food with them. Heheh No I am joking. Everybody is living a busy life and most of my colleagues either just bring packed sandwiches with them or else buy food from the school canteen. I don't think you are a miser... but one needs to save money at this moment in time.

i prefer meaty and savory foods. it gives me energy and motivation in doing my tasks! i don't care much in the nutritional content like other people because it just stresses me up. i think sandwiches are not enough for lunch, but burgers and rice meals will do :D

I take a sandwich and some crisps to college with me, but there is also a cafe place that is really nice so i often end up getting something from there too, usually a muffin or a sausage butty. I get really hungry way before lunchtime so the sausage sandwich keeps me going :)

I always bring packed lunch every time I go to work, same with my husband and my children. It's more practical to do so because a complete lunch in the office is quite expensive and yet I never get to get full. Same with my children, if I give them money to buy lunch, I won't be sure if they are going to eat nutritious food in their school canteen or they will just buy chips and soft drinks.
