I was stunned to see this news story today about Canada's womens hockey team having a party on the ice after winning a gold medal yesterday. The women were photographed drinking beer and smoking cigars. At least one of the players photographed was only 18, younger than the legal drinking age in Canada which is 19.
I'm no prude by any means, but this disturbs me because of the young kids that watch the Olympics and look up to these athletes for inspiration. If they wanted to have a party, I think a private room would have been a better choice, where there were no reporters or photographers. There's even talk of the team being punished for their actions. I just think its sad that a little common sense was not used here. What do you think? Were the ladies acting appropriately or should they be punished in some way for their ice party?
