Friends, Most of us want to live a model life.Be a good obedient son/daughter, and later a hard working student and look for a safe paying job, get married and be a good husband/wife and later parents and then retirement and ...well that is how our boring lives go, of course there are excitements within that limited scope no doubt, but most of the time one is playing it safe....But sometimes do you feel like letting yourself go and do some mad things ? it could be just anything that is there in your mind , but never came out because of all the restrictions...i do feel that way and many a times I go ahead and do what I want to do, after all it is my life and I take responsibility for all my actions ...
So how about you all ? do you feel the same way ? to live on the edge sometimes and not really care....

"to live on the edge sometimes and not really care..." NO but that does not mean I always play safe. IF I really want to do something, even if it means swimming against the tide I go ahead and do it but within the rules/parameters of civilized society.
My philosophy is : on my deathbed there should be no regrets, no I wish I had ...

Hi LuaCara, thats the right spirit, I too have done certain things defying conventions and later when things succeed there are many supporting you and trying to follow you, but, if it turns out to be a failure, then you are finished lol, every body is after you with ' I told you so....blah blah...I like your philosophy - all the best and have a great weekend

I agree with what you say...like they say it is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all...something similar here too....talking about pessimists the other day I was reading a book where a psychologist comes up with a very valid point...a childs first encounter with human beings start with a no...dont go there, dont do that, you are not allowed to do it...small wonder that most of us have any positivity left in us

@ kiran8: Pessimists and the "we told you sos" exist everywhere but why should we stop ourselves from crossing new horizons just because they are waiting for us to fails. Rather to have tried and failed than not tried at all. Great to know you too follow a similar philosophy.

i'm living a boring life, following rules and regulations to avoid getting in trouble. but this time, i wanna make a difference. i'd still follow restrictions, but this time, i wanna live one step closer to being daring. daring in a sense of being more adventurous, to add color on my boring life. just wanna do something fun this time.

mad usually consists of an amusement park or a show or something, I can't say I've ever quite gone totally mad...

Well,...how will i say this...my life is like a rose...the physical appearance is very beautiful but the moment you touch the stem,it has thorns...just like me...others say that i like a happy life just because they always see me a happy go lucky person, very friendly and wherever i go there's always a smile on my face...yes it is indeed true but deep inside of me is a person that who has also a lot of pain and sufferings to bear...who also have fears that are yet to be realized by others...

Hi justmeh,I am sorry to hear that, but the nicest part is your personality. You give happiness and smile where you go. Dont worry, time has a way of lessening your pain, sufferings and fear - it happens to all of us and by and by you will smile deep inside as well - take care and happy mylotting

i'd like to think i let it go, because in my opinion thats what life is all about. I can't imagine doing the same routine for the rest of my life when i do get a job, but currently im still at college so im not really thinking about all that atm :)

Hi adam, I think youbngsters these days are far more adventurous than ever before, and it is a great attitude. As long as one is resposible and evaluates a subject matter from all angles it is a very healthy attitude. it makes one positive and ready to face life under any adverse circumstances..

I am a very daring person as far as this risk taking ability goes[I won't ever take any physical risks because I am the least athletic as a person can ever get and would never risk daredevil sports.
However , I did have a'make or break' attitude as far as some finances went.I thank my parents for so many things.I was in a fortunate position to take risks but now I am more systematic and cautious.

Hi kala, thanks a lot for your responseEach person has a different aspect to his /her personality. While some are daring and are constantly scaring the life out o f their dear ones , the others are more daring in some other way...The other day my son called me at 4 in the morning and told me that he had just done bungee jumping and sky diving and the video was on youtube...what can one do? I keep thinking about all the things that can go wrong, but he loves adventure sport...

Hello!
I take life as it comes and I normally abide by conventions and laid down practices. I try to act responsible and may be conventionally. I do not plunge into unknown vistas and feel like doing odd things. May be my nature is like it. Sometimes family responsibilities and norms do not allow you to play/act, they way you desire or you want.

I would not want to walk on egg shells all the time which would mean I would be cautious every step of the way. What joy could there be in such a life. Live and let live is what I believe in. Live for the moment as every moment is precious - once gone it will never come back. So make the best of it.

Hi allknowing, you said it right , who wants to be cautious all the time and that means you are living life as others want you to do...I too agree that life is to be lived well and one has to make the best of each day , you feel this more so as you grow older...all the best

There are times where I have to be a bit more careful. After all, there are many things in life where you cannot just go in there wildly. There can be no room for error and there is plenty of error that can be made if chances are taken when they do not need to be. So, there are certain things where you have to really play by the system and everything will work out in the end.
However, life would be pretty boring if everything was like that. Sometimes we have to take risks. Be ready to accept the consequences no matter what they might be but sometimes taking a chance will open up our eyes to brand new possibilities and life will be a lot more easier. Plus, if you're not living on the edge some of the time, the chances are you're taking up too much space.

Hi megamatt, I agree with that statement if you are not living on the edge.....How true!Life would indeed be so boring and so monotonous if one were to be careful about every single detail all the time.A person who is a perfectionist is a pain to live with....thanks a lot for your response

very good description of our plans which is always subject to change and it happens with most of us. I try to be on safer side instead of being caught in a situation which may lead me to problems. It is always good to have a disciplined life but after you follow these for long time you get bored and we should break the rules.
I do break the certain rules but again that should not impact me or people around me drastically.

Hi Ajay, most of us want to play it safe most of the times, but there are times when we question ourselves as to how satisfied are we doing the same things and in the same way....I am sure you want o let go at the first opportunity when you are really fed up...all the best

I love living on the edge. Life to me is way to short to not do and try everything that you are brave enough to attempt. Sometimes when you are attempting to accomplish something big in life it will take some strength, ambition and most of all FEAR. That's right you need that excitement and thrill that fear brings to you so you can prove that anything in life can be overcomed and conquered. Anything where there is a high risk involved, most likely will have a huge payout on the other end of it. Just go for it. Life is way to short. That's how I do it.
