cannot get her to stop shredding paper

I have cute Maltese. I love her so much but she started becoming a shredder of paper and paper products. She does bother anything else-yet. She looks like she shaving fun at it too. The vet say not too worry shes fine. Anyone experience this? First dog to do this to me. Help.

LOL, my partner's Maltese does the same. She'll steal paper from anywhere she can get her paws on and shred it around the house. My partner punishes her by beating her (gently) on the bottom and locking her in her cage for while. They are dogs which are attention seeking and eager to please, so a few time of doing and they will learn its a bad thing and stop (until it feels that you're not paying enough attention and does it to get it!)

She is the queen of this household, lol. Literally if someone is sitting next to us she will find her way in or a way to boot you. I love it. But the shredding kills me. she goes and does everything with us except for events shes not allowed in. But looks so cute doing it, lol. I am tired of picking up the mess and seeing her hump animals too. I was gonna get her a mate but I think she would shred him too lol. That's what I thought was missing from her little life. We had a cat until he went to kitty heaven. she's unreal, funny, and my baby.

I love my partner's dog too, she's a ball of mischief, fur and cuteness. It might break your heart to try and discipline her on this but its that or breaking your back picking up after her lol!
Sometimes I wonder if the human is teaching the dog new behavior or the dog is just doing it so we learn XD
