Arranged marriage work these days?

Some societies still use arrange marriages, which is a little bit inconceivable for people like me, which live in western cultures. Here, in this part of the world, we actually like to choose our own couple, and for us is unthinkable that someone else pick our spouse for us. But I know that in other societies that is the norm and still works for many people, and they have wonderful life after that. What do you think? Do you think arranged marriage still works today?
