Do you think the movies are better than the books or vice versa?

i saw percy jackson, and i thought the book was much better, ive read all the harry potters and thought the books were much better ( even though the movies were good ) ,
and ive also read lord of the rings and felt that the books were much better.
This got me thinking about whether its only me who feels this way or there are others as well.
i would love to read all your comments.

Its true what i read in the last comment about the exercise you make with books. And I also think that that with books your mind can really blow away, you can imagine the whole story , without cuts , with all the details mentioned on the book, you dont feel limited to the director's idea for any movie based on any book.

I think the Harry Potter books and movies were equally good. As for the Percy Jackson movies, the second one was better but overall I was disappointed in the movies.

I also feel books are better than film, because for film there is limit of time, within which complete story of book needs to be told. The books are written first, by author, the original thoughts are recorded in book. probably thats what makes book better.
