Going Blind?

When people know they are going to die they can always think of things they would like to do first if they have the time. If you knew you were going to go blind what is it that you would want to do first or see before it happened? Do you know anyone that went blind after many years of seeing?

I don't know anyone who went blind after many years of seeing. If that was to happen to me I would want to go and visit different places like Ireland and Puerto Rico. I would love to memorize the look of the beaches in PR and the beautiful sceneries of Ireland's landscape.I would also like to watch all the movies that I haven't seen.

Yes traveling to see certain places for it beauty is a good idea but so is the movies. What would be a movie that you would just love to see if you only had to pick one?

I would want to spend time with our grandkids who live out of state. Would enjoy watching them play and be able to read books to them before my vision was gone. I don't know anyone who lost their vision after having sight for their entire life. Can imagine how devistating this would be since it would be difficult to learn braile at my age.

I am legally blind because of a neurological problem, and my husband is going blind from glaucoma. I am teaching him how to move around without using his eyes, and how to listen for things instead of looking for them. The best advice i can give anyone who is going blind is to start learning how to live WITHOUT their vision while they still have it, so when it disappears, it won't be so much of a problem for them.

What type of neurological problem was it that caused you to be legally blind? I have glaucoma as well. I think I should do some research about the subject to see what I can expect. I see the eye doctor every six months right now. and I have had lazer once to relieve pressure from my eyes. I don't really know what to expect or where I am at with the illness. I have alot of head aches and eye problems right now which I am taken drops and cream for. So this as made me think about the glaucoma a lot the past few weeks.
