I had to really give this question some thought. It immediately occured to me, that the mylot community being what it is, and it's love for drama wouldn't take long to abuse this kind of feature. Look at how the rating system has been abused....
Then it occured to me, that maybe this isn't such an off the wall idea after all, because it would ferret out the trolls pretty quick and cut down on harrassment.
So it's a double edged sword really. Ask Alice........she'll know.

Right now I have no enemies in Mylot to block them from seeing my post or my responses. I guess the best way to to that is to remove that user from your friend list. I think that way your post would not be monitored by that user when you post. But stopping that user from really following your activities will have to be hard.
But I think that could be useful as well as offensive to the user you will tagged as blocked so Mylot may be considering that.

If someone was Trolling on Mylot, hopefully reporting them and/or demeriting their responses would have the desired effect..having the ability to block them would be the next, most drastic step to prevent them..Being able to do this was an option in various chatrooms I've used in the past,so it could have a useful application in Mylot too...

I hope they would introduce it in the future.

You can just delete that person from your friends list but still it is possible for that person to respond to your post. Why would you want someone blocked? If that particular person is a torn in your flesh, just ignore him/her and move on to your next respondent.

Yeah! I agree with you zandi. This is the way we share thoughts and idea. Be it good or bad still have to accept it but not to the extent that we can tolerate those who write something violent or vulgar.

I think it would be very useful, especially if a troll was harassing you. I haven't met anyone here yet that I would use this feature on, though. I've met a few who I didn't agree with politically but all in all, I've been fortunate to meet only very nice people.
Why don't you email Go Ask Alice and put the question to her?

It has already been suggested, but I think they decided against it at this point in time. We are posting in PUBLIC FORUMS, therefore anyone can respond. The only PRIVATE FORUM is the PM's.
Your only option to prevent them from having every discussion you post go to their email inbox is to NOT have them on your friend's list. But they can still stalk you. And your discussions will come to their inbox if it is one of the highest rated ones, in the mylot daily email to all users.
If you feel that they are harrassing you, you can report them. If you feel that they are doing anything against the guidelines you can report them.
That is all you can do.

Most social networks have the option to block whom you want for whatever reason you want. I fail to understand why this can't be done here too.

If they are blocked than they cannot see whatever you are writing.... However I get your point... and if your post gets highest rated they still can see you! Hmm ... not easy as I might have predicted... but the blocking feature would certain limit any nuisance.

All you can do is keep 'suggesting' it to them. If enough users ask for the feature they may insitute it. Maybe they want their site (mylot) to be different than the 'other' ones. I know my teenagers used to use that line on me and it never worked. "But, Mommy, Johnny's parents let him do it, so why won't you let me do it?" Follow?

I can see your point as there have been stories in the pest about people who have been bothered with nasty posts that weren't posted to make a decent discussion, a joke or even a friendly gesture but downright nastyness. People should be blocked for that, but for your own fun it would be nice to be able to block certain users. I have been so lucky as to have never encounter it thusfar, but I would support such an option.

If you partake in Facebook or other social network sites you can create your own cirle of friend. I personally like Mylot the way it is. If a particular person harasses you you should report them to the administration. If you don't like their comments to your posts just ignore them. If the person is on your friends list just remove them. There is a benefit in the free exchange of ideas even though we may not like to hear what particular people have to say.

That is a good idea, because I think being able to block users on mylot would help make the site even better, and help people feel more comfortable and increase their earnings, and maybe mylot will add it one day, since they are always changing the site and adding thins to make it better, and I think it would be useful to me because there are some people on here that I do not like and wish would not view or respond to my posts, because they can be mean or annoying,or they respond with things that are not even relevant.

I don't currently have a need for a feature like that but I do know some folks who post in the political interest who would probably like to have the ability to block ME!

Hi ronaldinu,
i think that will be a good idea, especially if you don't a member on your friends list and they keep coming back and pester you, I'm only saying.

I agree with sparkofinsanity, this would be a double edged sword. Although it sounds good, this is a community and a community is not always in agreement. Some people may just block anyone who doesn't agree with them. I think anything bad enough to block someone should just be reported.

Umm, is it me? Well, I don't know if it would benefit or not. I mean everyone would start blocking each other then it would be the downfall of a productive site. Your best bet right now is to just delete them from friends and hope for the best. Doesn't stop them from requesting your friendship again..or still going to your profile and answering your discussion if they so choose to..

haha =D Who is that person u wanna block?? IS it me?? lol =D
Welll, if u dun wanna that user to respond to your post, just delete them from your fren's list.. But then again, that user will still be able to respond, as long as u are on their list.. hehe ^_^
I guess there's just no choice.. If u really dun like him/her so much, dun comment back on their respond to your post then.. haha =D

I think it would be useful, although I haven't had a reason to block anyone on here, Thankfully. It would probably cut down on the trolls we have running around here sometimes..

I haven't run into the problem too much but I know others have where a specfic person will respond to their discussions only for them to get deleted so yes I think for some that feature would come in real handy. It should always be an option.
