I was on the way home from work one day last week and it was so sad and seemed so different to me as to what I have not seen in a long time and I have seen things like this on television but I saw an old man must have been in his 60's or 70's He was well dressed in a nice business suit and holding a large sign that said I need a job. It was at the traffic rush hour when everyone was on their way home from work. I felt so sorry for him, yet there was nothing I could do or anything I could think of to help him. what is this world coming to? Why is our economy so bad? Do you thimk it will ever get turned around to a better side?

We're in a bad place right now. I honestly don't know how we got here or how we get out. All I know is how to give when little I still have when I can, and how to do my best not to end up in the same place. I've heard both visions for our futures, the "it'll all get better soon" and the "we've seen the best days we will ever have, and it's all downhill from here". I'm not particularly well inclined to follow anyone who claims to know all the answers, but I will push to try harder. Do your best. If we all just do our best and help where we can I think we can at least get to a better place than this. We cannot afford to believe in a hopeless future. Just keep trying.

aww that was heart breaking. old people should not work as they must be enjoying their pensions at their old age. on the other hand, it is really sad to see people desperately looking for means of living. maybe the man should seek in the job listings, not in the street. work wont go to him in that way so he should seek for it in the right place

I have seen such things on and off even before the economy took a dump at the end of "08. The only thing one must worry is if he's legit or a scammer. Usually the signs I've seen here over the years usually say "will work for food" on them. It's sad though if people have to legitimatly put a sign out for all the world to see of theiir desperation.

old old, hes in his sixties and thats old, no no no. I am 83, that is old a sixty year old man is not old and he is ablebodied, he needs work, he wants work and here in our US the work situation is hopeless, my son who is fifty , and do not call him old, has been out of work for a year, so yes its really really bad. I do wish our president would really start doing something to turn things around., I think that that the idiot Bush that we had in there for 8 years is the one who has messed up our economy and so many people did not see that. Now a new president has to try and undo 8years of bad economics. its a big undertaking but something has to be done.
