Will you still eat popcorn at the movies knowing how unhealthy it is?

Buttered popcorn is the Number 1 snack we all choose at the movies. But recent research has shown JUST how unhealthy it is. The "butter" put on the popcorn isnt even real butter, but various oils. And one bag of popcorn is equivilant to the calories of 4 cheeseburgers. I know all this, but at the same time i still LOVE my popcorn! It's a movie theatre classic and I still get it. :)

Really? I never even bothered about it. Maybe because pop corn isn't my favorite. I'd rather go for a hotdog sandwich. Besides, eating pop corn distracts your viewing entertainment, it creates a distracting sound so much so you could hardly hear the dialogue of the movie.

hi wigima what do you mean popcorn is unhealthy? its very healthy and low c aloried too, its just the damned butter or whatever it is thats unhealthy bring you own plain unbuttered popcorn and have a ball. popcorn itsself is not unhealthy at all. yes the fatty stuff the theater people put on it is gross and unhealthy.

Yes, that' what I'm saying, the popcorn they sell you in the theaters is unhealthy because of all that butter they put on. But even without the butter I notice that it is still sometimes a little greasy. Also, with all the munching in the theaters people often eat more than they want to and get huge sizes. Maybe if you BUY in the store unflavored, unbuttered plain popcorn it can be good. Because you are right popcorn is a healthy food by itself, if u pop d kernels even urself, but buttered popcorn, even flavored popcorn bought in the supermarket gets unhealthy as soon as they add things to it.

I love popcorn, especially the one with cheese.I actually eat a lot when I go watch a movie.I have a popcorn, soda, hotdog, and chocolate.very gluttonous,I say.I don't eat prior to watching a movie.I would eat inside the movie theater, then take a walk or shop around after the movie to burn those calories.

I love popcorn! And since I only go out to a movie a couple times a year I definetly get a big bag. The ultimate movie theater treat for me is sprinkling M&M's into the popcorn. Yummy!

I have stopped eating popcorn at the movies for a long time now, unless it is free due to program reward cards. Movie popcorn is not only unhealthy but it is very expensive as well. I try to avoid the concession stands when I go to the theater. Sometimes I will get water or some candy but popcorn is usually a no-no for me. :-) I will eat something before or after the movies.

Yes, popcorn can be said as a theatre classic. Almost all females love it when watching a movie. But as you said, it is quite harmful to our health because of its high calories and low nutrition. Taking too much of it can result in many problems like fat. Though we like it, we should also take care of ourselves.

It costs a fortune to go to the movies in the first place. We never bought popcorn we snuck in our snacks if we wanted something. We haven't gone alot since our kids were born but I imagine the prices have increased substantially since then.

YEP. It's a great movie snack and we don't go to movies very often so I consider it part of the treat of going to see a movie. We mostly watch movies at home and make popcorn at home lol.
I really feel it's silly for all these people to go on and on researching things and saying 'this is healthy' and 'this is unhealthy, because anybody with a brain probably KNOWS. That doesn't mean it causes us to eat healthy or unhealthy things, that's really up to us individually what we feel like choosing. As long as you aren't eating a huge bag of popcorn daily, I don't see why it would be of any concern.

I didn't know, but I never eat popcorn. I like the smell but I don't think it tastes very good. Isn't the popcorn you get in little bags to put in the micro-wave more healthy? It's no butter on it according to my ex-flatmate, she ate it all the time because it was supposedly healthier than lots of other snacks.

My family and I only go to the movies once in while, so this isn't much of a problem to me. I am not very fond of popcorns either so this does not bother me at all. However, it is good to know that one has to avoid eating it because of the unhealthy oils used in it. Thanks for the information.

Hmmm...I love eating popcorn while watching a movie. This is new information to me that it is equivalent to 4 cheeseburgers so thanks to you for the additional knowledge. However, i think i still cant resist eating popcorn when i'll go to the movies. It is like my movie trip won't be complete without it. LOL Anyways, i don't watch movies that often.

I realize that movie theater popcorn is very bad for me, but that does not stop me from getting it when I go to the movies with my kids. It is fattening and salty, but I love it. I probably consume my calories and fat for the week sitting there mindlessly munching on popcorn and sipping a giant Coke in that hour and a half I am in the theater, but I don't do it that often so I don't think too badly about it.

hie wigima, nowadays i go to movies, i have stopped buying these stuff like popcorns and soft drinks. i used to buy those days without fail, like its a must and the 'in thing ' to do. i bring my own small bottle of water in my bag along with some sweets. i only take my sweets once in a while. i either eat my meal before or after the movies. well, wigima , you can enjoy the popcorns without guilt but dont eat too much as its unhealthy and calories laden. just give yourself a small treat of popcorn once in a while.as you go along, you can replace with other foodstuff that are healthier. try it out.

When I was a kid, my parents got me one of those kid's packs from the movie theater EVERY time we went tot see a movie, up until the time I was about 9 or 10.
I think I kind of got conditioned into expecting popcorn at every movie from that. I had a hard time of breaking the habit of actually getting movie popcorn, but these days I hardly ever do it. I do know how awfully unhealthy that fake-butter is, but the smell of it being poured on hot popcorn that bombards my nose every time I walk in a theater will always make my mouth water. w

Hi! I haven't eaten popcorn while watching some movie from very long time ago. when I was at school I mean when i was a little bit younger than now, i eat them, but not on movies, just so while watching some TV show. and now when I watch some movie I like to eat some cookies or some biscuits and drink some soft drink, without worrying how unhealthy it is
