SpaceInvasion Alliance Updates

More stuff has happened for me to write about. First Signs - Since December 4th, 2009 I think (the big date is seared into my memory) or November 25th, the game universe(s) started to shut down. It started with some bugs caused by the in-game messages taking up too much space. Some other bugs were happening, too, I think. The game operators (GOs) told everyone to delete the old messages to help fix the problem. It worked a little and they went on to fix some of the other bugs. Darn Bugs - After a while players were notified that the bugs were much harder to fix than they thought. So a System Vacation Mode (SVM: Vacation Mode means players cannot attack, build, research, or do anything) was initiated. They said that at the end of this period they would reset the game back to December 4th to fix all the problems. Basically, there was a little note on the top that said "This Universe is in Maintenance!" or something like that. All the fleets were halted in mid-space, resource production stopped, and time froze. The Great Slumber - Now, while the whole universe had stopped, players only logged in to read updates of the problem. Everyone waited for things to be fixed up, but there seemed to be no progress. Days and weeks passed. The game had some event planned for the new year but could not start it because of the bugs. At some points they had said they fixed the problems and said it was safe to leave the Vacation Mode. Shortly after, they would say there were still problems and things had to go back to maintenance. By this time, most players had grew tired of the game and stopped logging in. The game reset they had promised ended up not happening and this angered one of my alliance members who would later quit (and then later return). Losses and Recovery - While this silly maintenance was going on, many players quit the game. People stopped logging in because they no longer believed the problems would ever go away. I was frustrated because this game was supposed to be a very simple HTML browser game (only clicking, text, and a few pictures involved). How could such a simple game need to go on a maintenance that takes months? Then, finally, on the 27th of January, things came back online. The GOs said that they would replace any fleets lost from December 4th 2009 to January 27th 2010 (almost 2 months). My alliance message box starts to get filled up with messages of war. There is this attack being planned at an old enemy and people become active again. Everything seems fine. . . Kicked while Down - As I checked our alliance member list, I found that a few key members had gone inactive. Some were the old ones, the ones who came from the old alliance we had. This included the one who brought us all together, former leader of the old alliance and former leader of our new alliance. Now, with half our alliance gone or inactive, our current leader sends us a dreadful message (just recently) on February 23rd. Apparently, another stronger alliance had invited us to join them. This meant that we had to leave our alliance to join theirs. And, about half of the remaining did leave. That is, the stronger, older and familiar half left. This crippled our alliance (and made me sad), now we were brought down to the 79th place of top alliance ranking: a prey for many. The old leader who had brought us all together went inactive for too long and that deleted his account, our new leader left, our strongest players left, everyone left us. A new leader was appointed, and I count maybe five or four of the "old" members remaining with a total of twelve people in the entire alliance. We used to have 37. And to make things worse, the alliance that now contains most of our members refuses to have a Non-Agression-Pact with us. So, they took all our members and they aren't even promising not to attack us. . . Now, the remnants of the great KNG are trying to rebuild but there is no point. We can't get back to where we were, the only options we have are to join the other alliance or to just disband our own. Our empire has finally fallen. All good things must come to an end? Maybe. Much more than other games? Definitely. . .
