working overseas is difficult especially if it is a country wherein your faith is not like theirs. i was born to a catholic family, raised as it is in a catholic country. working overseas doesnt mean that i will forget what i am. does asking every sunday to be a day off to go to church is enough for them to have such reaction? i know that they do not believe in Christ but i respect them, i do not laugh if its the nature that they want to worship but having a reaction like that hurts me much.

That's really annoying, everyone should respect others faith and not to laugh on it..
Well forgive those who did and just forget about it,its you who knows better than them, remember, whoever puts you down, the God in Heaven will raise you up..
Happy lotting and God bless!

I don't know if someone laugh at my belief because I'm not that faithful to my religion either.
I guess I would feel sorry for them because they still can't see the truth in my believe.

Yes, bea, it sounds bad! You do nothing wrong! Don't care what others' say. Keep your faith. I think as time goes by, people will stop doing this. And you ignore their rude behavior, they may feel vapid and stop soon.
For me, some of my friends (non-Christians) know my faith, and once they also made jokes about it (not point against me), I felt uncomfortable! Then I kept silence. And move on to other topic. I don't want to argue with them. And if someone want to learn God, I'd like to share with them.
Cheers up! God be with you!

I think that this is very rude and insulting to the person being laughed at! I don't have a faith myself but I would not dream of laughing at someone else who does! I guess we live in a world now where the ideal is 'live and let live!' Everyone should feel free to live by their faith without ridicule and judgement from others that don't understand. I guess there will always be people in the world though that only have the goal of hurting others and this is not very nice at all. Andrew

I will surely get annoyed and i cannot promise i will keep it to myself.I will defend my faith if they anybody try to insult it.Cause i think its not only directed to my faith itself , but to the One who is the creator of my faith.
I consider myself lucky enough not to work in a country where Christianity is looked down upon.It would be saddening not to be able to defend one's faith just because i might lose my job.

Although your religion is up to you, you have to realize that not all jobs revolve around ppl's religion. Some jobs require you to work on your worship day so if you apply for a job, you need to talk to the employer up front about any special days you might need off. As for ppl laughing at your religion, I wouldn't worry about it. Some ppl are like that b/c they don't understand the religion.

Hi bea..
There are times that some people laughts our faith. But I'm affraid for them. If they know the word, I know that they will realize what they are doing. Its a bad feeling when somebody laughts your belief same thing as the religion your in. There are also times that people are having a discussion pertaining to religions and some of them make a joke with it. I wish this people will learn the importance of faith and glorify God our creator.

It is your faith. Let them think and laugh about it as much as they like. People like that have no idea what religion means to others. Let them go there way, you just keep your way. They are not important. And they have to give you off to attend church. No excuses. Just ignore the poor souls. TATA.

I have encountered a lot of these people who don't respect others' faith. I would just probably imagine that person laughing while he is burning in hell. Lol.

We can not deny they're lack of knowledge, we have to understand them because we are more educated, we respect their culture and we are there to earn money for living. We have to be humble whatever persecution we are encountering right now but the reward & blessing is always at the end so be patient.Keep reading the bible everyday & try to study it like joining some charismatic bible study. You need some friends to hold on & to talk too.Ask God & talk your needs.

I really feel bad when people would laugh at my faith. It happened to me many times already. Since I was young, I am always in a class where I am the only one having my religion and it was hard because people dont understand me. I just dont understand why some people dont understand the word respect when all they have to do is accept differences and not laugh. I wonder if that's hard for some people to do or whether they do it because they want to prove something and make others feel down because it will make them feel better.

Hi Bea_29, I am so sorry to hear that happens to you. I am a Catholic too, and I do believe in our faith.
If anyone laugh at my faith, of course I will be sad, but then again if you remember many people are also oppose to Jesus, laugh and ridicule Him too. So I guess we are in the same boat :)
All I can do is pray for them, its just that they havent feel God's love in their hearts that is why they wouldnt understand your faith.
As for you wanting to go to church and take day off on Sunday, cant you go to the union or HR for that ? Or go to the local parishes and talk to the priest there. In my country they have several masses through out the day so that way people have the option to go maybe, there are even the 11pm masses so people have the chance to go after working whole day :)
Remember, try to forgive them, still hold on to your faith, and prove to them that being a catholic is something to be proud of.

hmmmm
that's so bad....
but still, prayering and do not giving up your faith to GOD is a strong weapon
and still, giving some praise and teaching some work of GOD may changes everything
stay strong and don't give up in your faith, you may overcome some obstacle in your faith
the greatest weapon in life is GODS word. they may laugh but still the word of GOD will still prevail
be strong and GOD BLESS

If I were in your shoes, I would just ignore them for they don't know what they are doing. Pagan as they me seem or whatever beliefs they have, one thing is for sure they are bound with darkness and false faith in their hearts. We should be thankful that we are in the light and we have God in our hearts. But we should know who God is, we should have an intimate and real relationship with HIM or else we will be just like those people having false belief who will remain uneducated and uninformed on who the true God is. Happy mylotting and God bless.

Do not mind them, let them laugh as they want to..as long as you have your faith strong then God is with you, because God is worthy of trust, God's promises can comfort the sin-sick soul and the troubled conscience. We are dealing with a God who wants to be a part of our life and wants us be part of him

I understand your frustration, but each person is entitled to their own opinion, even if it is a rude one. There is also a chance that they may be laughing at you not so much for what your beliefs are, but for the fact that you want a day off that is a standard normal working day in the country you are in. While it may bother you that you are unable to attend church, you need to remember that God is always there for you and you can talk to him whenever you need to and he will be there to listen. You can do this when you get home from work, or any other time when you just need some help. I was raised Catholic as well, but I do not feel the need to go to church to show my devotion. Keep in mind thats just my opinion. Everyone has their own way of showing their faith to God, and while you may not be able to follow the regimen you have been accustomed to I am sure you will find a way to stay true to your beliefs no matter where you are. Just don't let their reaction bother you. If roles were reversed, and they were in your home country, they may equally get laughed at or possibly even shunned for asking for time to participate in their spiritual ritual just because its different than what someone else may be used to.

hi! I think if someone laugh at my faith, i will just turn around and will say nothing and if he/she continues laughing at it, i will probably go and ask her/him what the problem is and will make him/her sorry for it

This is an example of an ignorant person who does not respect the ideal of others. I may not agree with your situation if I needed someone to work on that day but I would not laugh because of your reason. I know faith has moved mountains and so it is not a laughing matter.
Let it be a leason to you all, as ridiculous as you may think someones faith is, never laugh at them. Instead, reason with the person and explain in a totally respectful way why you can't let them off. You will come off as a more humble and gentil person and maybe you can even negotiate another way for her to colaborate so you can give off that Sunday.
It's a win-win when everybody has mutual respect.

I don't see many people laughing at that, because it's wrong, and it makes them look like they're not thinking.
