Hello Mylotters,
When I was still new here on mylot, and I want to do changes to my post, I looked for the delete or edit button. I found None. Later on, I found out that you cannot edit or delete your post once it is published. So we have to be careful on what we say.
Same goes to LIFE. There's no rewind button, edit or delete. We cannot go back to undo our mistakes, what's done is done. All we have to do is learn from it and never do it again. we need to think twice before we act.
I had my fair share of mistakes that I've learned from. There are things I did and words I've said that I wish I didn't. I still cringed at the memory of it, but it serves me right to know the difference what is right and wrong.
"Experience is hard teacher because she gives you the test first, then the lesson afterwards."
How about you, what are your experiences in life that you wished to have the delete or edit button? Or will you let it stay that way coz you learned from it?

Hi trebliw0,
I agree that we should always we extra careful on what we say and do, so we would not regret it. But when we do, we're only human. Just learn from it and let it be your guide to your future. Yes, there's no rehearsal and we only have one shot in life.

the no edit format may have been done, basically on purpose. and you may be right with the kind of allusion you made. well, there are lots of things we did which was followed by regrets and we hoped that we could rewind the clock, but never can. as you said and extrapolated, experience is hard teacher, it is the best teacher. it teaches us to be careful in everything we do... to act properly every time and avoid hurting others, because we don't want to be hurt in return.

Hi bystander,
Yes, we have to be careful on what we do or say, coz once we did or said something, we cannot take it back. What's done is done, and the best thing that we can do is learn from our past mistakes and let it be our guide to be a better person.

hi onlyprincess,
Yes, we can't go back and correct what we have done in the past. Life is not like a movie tape that we can rewind and not a script that we can edit and correct. There are a lot of things that happened in my life that I regret. But those experiences that I had makes me who I am. It makes me stronger and better person. But the very thing that I can do since that I can't go back in time and undone what I did and edit everything, I just do better now and learn from my mistakes. My past experiences serves as a guide for me today, tomorrow and for what my future will bring.
Happy Lotting!

Hi danity kane,
very well said ;) What's done is done and we could never go back to edit our mistakes, what we can do is to be a better person and learn from it. I agree with you that it can serve as a guide for us. Thanks for sharing!

I'll admit, I've had my regrets. Its all part of being human. You have to try and hopefully learn from your mistakes, or be doomed to repeat them. Sometimes, when I get real upset or depressed about something I wish I could go back and time, but once I'm calm again I realize that I wouldn't really change events. That's life, no matter how much you want to change something deep down you know you can't. Even though the thought sounds appealing.

Hi kaylachan,
Yes,it does sounds appealing. once in a while, we wish we could turn back time to change things. But it would never happen coz what's done is done and we can never go back.

Hi,
Yeah, I sometimes wished if we had that button. But then I think, the absence of this provision makes us more serious about what we post here. We remain alert about the relevance, the quality and the tone. Also there would be some problem in giving us reward if we were able to edit/delete our posts at our will. Even someone making absurd post can't get away with it. We are leaving traces of our activities in myLot and I think it is good. It is symbolic as the same think happens in real life as well. We should take it sportingly and positively.
Thanks for starting such a nice discussion.
God bless you

Yes, in life there is no rewind button. Mistakes once committed or words once spoken,
can not be taken back. Yes we need to learn from our mistake for sure. But we can not afford to make mistake to learn every thing by our own mistake, Life is too small for it. A wise person has to learn from mistake of others too. isn't it?

Hi common man,
Yes, I agree that aside from our own mistakes, we could also learn from the mistakes of others. Thanks for sharing!

Actually, I would prefer an "undo" button instead.
This way, I can undo my application to my current company and apply for an internship in an MNC then... Maybe now, I will have a choice of switching to a job with a higher pay. That would be the best outcome ever.
Back to reality, I just have to enjoy what I have now. Tolerate my current job till my ongoing project ends before I decide to move on.

Hi ms.onlyprincess,
I am also finding way before on how to correct my typographic errors on my post and on my replies but theres no way to do it. However, it helped me develop my self for having a lesser mistakes and creating a piece with accuracy. I learned that I have to review before posting anything here.
Before, I wonder why they don't have this kind of options but afterwards, I learned that it helps me to improve my work much better.. :)

One interesting thing in mylot is that there is not cut, copy and paste options. In most cases while we write something, we normally used these buttons in our documents. This is absolutely removed from mylot edit. Whatever we type on mylot, it is our own. This is really great in mylot. Now a days i write my own words without referring others documents.

Hi princess,
If you really have had the edit option in your life, you would never be able to learn from mistakes to try to be perfect because you'll always have the option to modify that doesn't seem to be justified. You wouldn't be careful about what you are doing, like killing somebody out of rage and again bring him back to life.It would be all comedy-a comedy of having life!

Yeah I wonder too why there's no edit button here. I'm make mistakes on my posts sometimes and I dont have time previewing my post first before submitting it. I then realize in the end that my post is not enough and I commit mistakes like not good sentences or I'm missing a few word on my sentence. What I do when I see some of my mistakes is leave it as it is since I can't edit it and go find another topic where I could post another advice or reply. I just see to it that my sentence is complete the next time I post on another topic like I also do in life. I see to it that I'm doing it teh right way now unlike before where I always commit mistakes and go on with my life.
