Is it needed to play with younger players when the series is in your pocket?????

I don't think that team management's decision is correct to play with most of younger players against a team like S.A. I think this make the game uninteresting to the ground viewers.I suggest that either the series should stop if a team surely pocket it or u have to play with mostly same team where u can replace 2/3 players with younger players. The viewer of that place where the series last match held, r interested to see the renowned player playing in front of him, so what is his fault??????????????plz ans me.i really want your decision in this point...........thank u

the best team should be played in any match irrespective of the state of the series but there was no alternative but to rest a player like tendulkar. he would have been tired and we need to preserve him. i was surprised though both nehra and pravin kumar were rested. neither of them played in the test series so they would not have been tired especially pravin kumar who is not exactly a fast bowler. even harbhajan who was supposed to play in the third match did not feature in it.

It is indeed a sound strategy by the selectors in which the younger players are given a chance to test themselves against international top teams and get a review on themselves of what they need to improve on in the future as it would also give the team management an exact idea of the bench strength that the team would be having before preparing for any major event. When the series is won and we have still games remaining to be played, it will be great to give young generation a chance to make a name for themselves and then they can get confidence from that!!

It is what MS Dhoni has asked for to the selectors that he want to give chance to younger players in international games. I do think that Sehwag should have been made to play in the third ODI match!!

if most of them r young then who will show them how to handle tough situation against top team?

yes you are saying correct that its not good to play with younger player when you are winning the series as it make less interesting the match for the people who have buyer the ticket to watch the match with great expectations but on the other hand you also see that if we have already won the series than why we should not allow younger player to play as we should give them chance to to show their performance and also help selectors to find new talented players that plays far more better than old ones so this is in no case wrong just for interest of people we stop giving chance to younger who are waiting from long time to show their performance and even make our country to loose good player. this is not correct in any way. actually the second factor is that if a match is not important than we should provide rest to important players that are playing for long time continuously so that they can regain their energy and can perform more in next important match. so at last i want to say that this is correct that younger player should be given chanced to play if match is not important.

Is south Africa vs India is not enough to be an important match?

ya their is nothing wrong in it . the young players can get a chance only then because we have the series in our pocket and we are not going to lose anything even if we lose the match . its just a experience for the young players and its a good chance to test the bench strength . i will definitely say that their is nothing wrong in doing so . and the senior players will also get some rest . .

I think,I can't clarify my opinion.I want to say that, the younger player should play in this kind of situation ,but if most of the player is young then they can't take the pressure & will lose there confidence . they should play with some of the senior players who can handle the pressure against a team like S.A. No one will be unsatisfied if it is happened against a team like Bangladesh.

It is a good to play with youngsters. Then only we will know our bench strength. Then If any of the senior players injured means then we can use the youngsters who is best. You said that the viewer has any fault.Definitely not.But think of the situation where there are no senior players and only young ones have to take part.Without allowing them to play a single match then there is no chance of knowing about them.So we will choose wrong team members. Will that viewer will be happy if we lose.Definitely not.So it is good to test the alternatives.I too thinks as same as the viewer. But we have to know our strength. So i think it is good.

I get your point, but Indian bench strength is not that much poor as shown in that match.I just want to say that this kind of experiment should do against 5/5++ ICC ranked team, not against 2 to 5 ranked team.we can play with 2/3 non regular younger players along with senior players against 2 to 5 ranked team.

You are right. But we have won the series so this is the best time we can test.Although the world cup is nearing and we can't say that we get chances like this.If we didn't get a chance till world cup then it will be difficult. So whenever we get chance we have make use of it.They have played against best team,so surely they will be in confident. They would have learnt more from that match. This will be useful to them.

its a good startegy because it gives rest to the senior squad (especially tendulkar) , and more than that it gives the younger guys a chance to play against big teams and try to prove themselves. The youngsters would relish playing against opposition like south africa as they are a very nice team, one of the top teams in the world and for any rookie, its a good platform to prove himself.

so what do u think the younger players performed their best & can we make decision that our bench strength is very poor?If your ans is negative then why this kind of experiment has been done against a top ranked team?

Yes I think this is a very good strategy. I think it should be done so that the young players get a chance to play international matches. They get to play in crunch situations and then they also get the feel of the internation arena. And so this way, when they are in a really important situation and the team needs something from them, they can deliver the good and this is what I think India wanted to do the same thing. This way we gave rest to our key players like Viru and Sachin and also allowed young players to perform.

does viru really need rest?I think sachin really need a rest but if viru played then young player will free to perform good.Playing against a team like S.A. is a big pressure & if they can't get support from senior players there confidence will go down .This will not help them future.isn't it??????????

In my view it was right decision regarding the fact that IPL is coming and India has already has stuffed international schedule so any break is very good for the players. And with that all the young turks have once in a while opportunity to show their skills at the grandest stage of them all so that they can be picked in the future.

I think IPL is not an international event, so team management may not be interested in that fact. But in international cricket can they make such decision which can break the confidence of up coming cricketers. If young player plays with some senior players who can taught them how to play against a team like S.A.

its a good thing playing some youngsters when the series have already won. but in the last series it was not needed because the team alread young one with a few seniors.removing those seniors is not good

In my opinion it is really necessary to give the younger players a chance but only once the series is sealed. It is very important to assess the players' standards and expose them to the international arena as we are nearing the World Cup.As it was evident in the final ODI with South Africa the experiment was a total failure. The bowlers failed to deliver and so did the batsmen. It was a batting pitch and we couldn't even get to 300.But nevertheless a few played relatively well.

I agree with your opinion, but if v.sehwag & p.kumar will play that game there will be easier situation for the younger to perform. This can build up their confidence, isn't it??????

No,giving chance to the young players can't be approved at the cost of defeat.Winning is a habit. What they have learnt from the match?-how to loose confidence in one day! There were no senior bowler to back them up as Australians do.Otherwise what will be the upliftment in playing an international game.

I think, its proper to give chance to new /young player to face international cricketers, when the series is already won. That is safest way of giving exposure to young talent. But as u rightly said, a balance between new young player and experienced player should be maintain to keep the interest in match alive. I am with you on that point.
