Do You Check For Wrinkles On Your Face?

To be honest, I'm not the vainest person in the world; certainly not one for looking in the mirror all the time. For this reason I do not check my face for wrinkles. I buy moisturisers (including anti-ageing whenever I can afford it) but that's hasn't anything to do with wrinkles really, it's just something else to use before bedtime lol. I don't moisturise during the day. I know I should but I don't! Because I am aware of my hands on a daily basis, what with all this typing I do...I have noticed they are starting to look a bit on the dry side and yes, they are starting to wrinkle up slightly. I am more bothered about that than my face! Strange eh? Can anyone recommend a decent hand cream (it hasn't got to be Nivea, Garnier or L'Oreal or Neutrogena) so that narrows it down a bit! I once had some Clarins hand cream but I didn't like the texture, it was a bit cloggy. Any ideas? Do you check your face for wrinkles? That includes the boys.

I use different brands (cheap ones) with Shea butter in them. The Shea butter seems to moisturize better than even some of the expensive brands. I, too, seem to notice my hands more than my face. Maybe because I know my face is filled with wrinkles...I especially love the crows feet around my eyes.

I love crow's feet too, I cannot understand why some people want to get rid of them! As for Shea Butter, yes, my current face moisturiser has that ingredient in it and I must say, it does the trick nicely.

In my case, I just have to remember to use it. It's not so much what I use, but just plain remembering to use it. I guess I get lazy...and I can't reach my back!

I use victoria's Secret, Forever Romance ultra-moisturizing hand and body cream. I love it. I slather it on my hands, forearms and elbows and I also use it on my lowerer legs and knees. That's what I do during the day. At night, I rub a generous portion of olive oil onto my hands, put on a pair of white cotton gloves and sleep with it on. I'm always looking for signs of aging but to be honest you can prolong it a bit but sooner or later it happens to all of us. I don't really see a lot of wrinkles on my face at 62 years old but I do have some sagging. As soon as I get through moving into a new home, I'm going to have one a Lifestyle Lift.

I have heard of Victoria's Secret but I don't think their products are sold here in the UK, but thanks anyway. What on earth is a Lifestyle Lift? It sounds like a surgical procedure to me.

Thank you so much for your explanation, it's much appreciated. You are right about hands. No good having loads of procedures done on the face if your hands look like wrinkled prunes (and that goes for the feet too) but I'm not suggesting for a moment your hands and feet are like that...just generally. I will bear the Ahava name in mind, cheers for that.

I am going to give you my biggest secret about good skin. People say that I don't have wrinkles, at least not visible wrinkles. I don't buy expensive creams with empty promising. My secret works for entire body, including face and hands. I use bio- oil for my hands and my face. It absorbs very easy and it has quality the same as very expensive serum. You can go online, check for Bio-oil or PurCellin oil. The oil has benefits of oil without being greasy. I know that it was very popular in UK. Many people buy Bio-Oil as a scar or stretch mark product, but it works for dark spots and wrinkles as well.

I know from insiders that many products are mixed with similar ingredients as Bio-oil and are on the market as a face serum for over $180 per one oz. I use it all over my face including under eye, but it is wise to check if you can tolerate it under the eye. As far as the rest of the face the product is very mild and safe.

I try to avoid checking for wrinkles. :-) But same comment as Sandra, I've inherited good skin from my dad. They're there though. But my face is a wee bit chubbier than it should be and I wonder what might show up if I lose some weight.

Sunbathing and smoking, my mom was a heavy smoker and she had quite a lot of wrinkles.

That's a very good point! My Nan was overweight and I don't remember ever seeing any wrinkles on her face. She was a bit like me; she liked the sun but not necessarily baking in it. She was ahead of her time as regards keeping out of it. Mum, on the other hand, has admitted to me that 1970s sunbathing (especially the 1976 drought year) hasn't done her any favours in the wrinkles department. She still has her "shiny chubs" (cheeks) though!

No way I check! I don't want to run into those devils. I use lotions all the time..on my face and hands. My hands are a bit harder to care for because I handle boxes and metal all the time. I really have to pay attention to them and I don't feel like they ever look the way I want them to.

Hands and feet are amazing aren't they? We take them for granted at times. I feel for you having to watch out for your hands all the time because of your job. My Mum's the same as she helps out with the washing-up sometimes at work...she made sure her girls had the nice, organic stuff as everyone was coming out with rashes when they used the chemicals! I really should have nicer hands as they've not really had much of a battering over the years (just typing really) which is probably why I notice them more than any other part of my body hehe lol. When I have the time I shall do a bit of online research for the best hand creams at a reasonable price!

Hi Janey, Neither am I a vain person, but I use St. Ives Collagen and Elastin Facial Moisturizer under my scant make up. They sell it at Walmart, Rite-Aid and CVS at a price I can afford, under $5.00. For my hands, I use any brand of Creamy Baby Oil. When I don't intend to go out, I use virgin coconut oil on my face during the day and A & D ointment(lol), before going to bed. Friends find this funny when they ask me what I use on my face. A & D ointment is used in Nursing Homes to prevent bedsores and neutralize acidity of the skin of incontinent patients. It worked on my face, though. However, what's good for one may not be good for others. Coconut oil is really very good for the skin, the hand's included, not to mention all its other health benefits. But to deviate from our discussion, having mentioned the word, 'incontinent', reminded me of something else. Let me tell you about it very briefly. A geography teacher was asking his fourth grade students, "Does anyone know what a continent is?" The class was quite and no hands were raised. After a while, a little boy, a doctor's son, eagerly raised his hand, "Just thought about it , Sir. Continent means being able to get to the bathroom before it is too late." Keep smiling, Janey, it's food for the soul and good exercise for the face. Have a really good one.

Hello there! That's very good about "continent" haha and yes, it did make me smile, actually! I will try and smile like this all the time from now on lol. I am here on my own during the day so there is no-one around that will think I've "lost it."

I probably ought to but just can't do that I hate it when my hands are dry, I go looking for any old lotion for them, Heck, I'm not too fussy - I'll put Carmex (lip balm) on them if that's what I've got!

Haha! To be honest, I have been known to put the moisturiser I use for my face on my hands...only a little bit...but it does work. Better than nothing!

Ha ha! I don't have to check for wrinkles too much these days as I can't really miss them when I look in the mirror! I suffer from dry skin and often get rashes - I have done so for many years now. I use Aqueous Cream. There is so smell with it - it's a good job because I am a guy! All it does is replace moisture and make the skin feel more comfortable. It is good to put on my face if I am going out on a very cold day. It stops chapping and soreness. But it has to be used frequently for that. I used to use vaseline because I do get a lot of problems with chapping on my face - but vaseline whilst good, was far too greasy really. _Derek

Hi Derek! I am so pleased that you have been able to find a product that works on your dry skin. Aqueous Cream eh? That's a new one on me, I have to say. Mum has suddenly developed an allergy to perfume. She found some in her house a few days ago and sprayed just a tiny bit on her wrist when she stayed with us 2 weekends ago...and her wrist came up all red and blotchy. There was another time she was here and she sprayed another perfume she really likes and her neck was so red she looked like a rooster(sorry Mum). Isn't it strange how we can go for years wearing perfumes, etc, then, suddenly we develop rashes after using them. I reckon there is one ingredient that is reacting with Mum's skin...it's a chemical beginning with "b" but can't remember it off-hand. It was in a product called Boots Protect and Perfect...something like that. I had the serum and my face came out all blotchy. I have never used it since. A chemist online said what was in it and that chemical was mentioned. I wish I could remember what it is! DOH!

I’m more concerned about second, third and fourth chins than wrinkles these days, although I suppose I could just say my second chin is just a deep wrinkle or laughter line. But I do use had cream because after years of abuse my hands suffer from the inevitable dry patched on the knuckles. I just use nivea over night hand cream and it tends to keep the dry patches at bay and as such pretty wrinkle free.

That is an interesting question. I have to say that I have never checked my face for wrinkles. When I wake up in the morning all I do is brush my teeth, then wash my face with plain old water. So far my face is pretty smooth. One of the best hand cremes that works well for me would be the Vaseline lotion.

Actually i don't check my face for wrinkles. I just wash my face with soap and water. I don't have a problem with my hands getting dry coz i haven't experienced it. If you need moisturizers i recommend avon products like their hand and body lotions (skin so soft) which i also use.

I do but they don't bother me that much. It they come out of my face, just have to make sure I wash my face too often. Some cleansers also will do. But I don't really get wrinkles that much.

The way I see it, if we don't check our faces every day we won't realise we're getting wrinkles in the first place, do you know what I mean? Thanks for your response, it's much appreciated.

did you guys know that you DO NOT have to wrinkle with age? well brain research shows that stress causes a chemical reaction in the body that harms it. Also if you energize your chakras properly and COMPLETLY REMOVE stress from your life than you are golden!!

.Hello, Janey. First off, no I don't check for wrinkles, because I've inherited my mother's great skin. Hang on, that's not absolutely true - Mum made sure I started moisturising from about 15, so I have nicely hydrated skin with no sign of wrinkles, even here in the Spanish sun - and we do have some today. As for the hands, the best (and also cheapest) hand cream I've come across is Avon's glycerine and silicone. If you don't have an Avon lady near you, you can order online. And if you're worried about facial wrinkles, Avon's Anew range is also very good. I was an Avon lady for many years before we moved to Spain, and when it comes to skin care, I don't think they can be beaten on price or quality

Hiya Sandra. Yes, you do have lovely skin, I can tell! Funnily enough, I did use an Avon product a few months ago (something I haven't done for ages) that I ordered online. It was an Oxygen Facewash and was really good. I may take a look at the website sometime. Thanks for your advice.
