We just started going on mini vacations to get away from the hustle of the city. It is the two or three day getaways. I mean we may only go a city away or few hundred miles away from home and do not spend a lot of money doing it. It is a different feel then being at home and it seems more relaxing. Then when we come back home we have refreshed feeling or a facade that nothing matters. How about you? Do you make it a point to just getaway once in a while?

hi! yes, I still go on vacations, but only during the summer and the spring, when I have more days-off from the university and don't have to study and do some homeworks. I love to travel all over the country and visit many new and different places i have never been to.last year i visit about 10 cities in my country and I also was abroad to Greece, but I really didn't like it that much

We take at least one nice long family vacation a year. I consider it essential to get away and enjoy a different environment and to relax a bit and just be with my family and do different things and see different things, and eat out and not have to cook all the time. We usually like to take a nice short trip at least once a year too, but we don't always get to do that. My husband and I will usually have my mom watch the kids on our anniversary and we will go away some place close for a day and a night, that is always nice to just go away as lovers once a year. Today we took a day trip, the whole family went in to Chicago for the day and we went up in the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears tower), then we walked around Chicago and walked around Millineum Park, we had a really nice time. It cost us a lot of money though.

I bet it felt rewarding to do it. I know some vacations can be costly. I know that you have to have me time or it just make life so hard and trying at. Midlife crisis my friend calls it. You wonder where the time went to and what have you done with it?
I had it rough for quite a few years and I said I would make time for me and my family to enjoy life for a day or two to appreciate what I have not what I do not have. They appreciate to. I am glad you enjoyed your vacation. Take care.

A vacation can be going to a friends house for the weekend or just breaking the routine of everyday life. It clears the mind. Having fun is hard these days! thanks.

I know how you feel. I try to get away as often as possible. I find it difficult to keep a clear head when life seems to drag me down. I have only ever been on one major vacation which was fun but it turned out to be just as much stress as regular life. I find that for me it is the mini vacations that serve better for me mainly because I can take them more often.

Yeah the little ones seem to do me good though. I am happy and energized from them. My pocket does not feel it too bad. Thanks for your input.

Well, my husband and I do try to go on vacation, or we try to do day trips somewhere, or something like that. We do try to do it when we can. However, we're both students at the moment, so we can't go very far for very long. Right now, it's our march break and we're visit his family, as we don't study in the same city and don't get a chance to see them very often. So, I guess that this somewhat counts as vacation/holiday.

Yes it does count. family is important too. Everyone changes so much and time flies so fast. A break here and there is good for body, mind, and soul. Its hard. I remember back in the day when I used to go on weekend vacation almost every weekend. Those were the good ole days. thanks for responding.

I think there may be a new trend in taking more frequent but shorter vacations. I just started doing the same thing as you about 2 years ago. I love traveling but just haven't either the time to get away when it worked schedule wise or sometimes the funds for the full 10 day vacations that I adore.
But taking either a three or 4 day vacation means that I have been getting away more often so there is a nice trade off there. Sometimes, it's just a driving vacation to a new city or state. Othertimes, it's down to Aruba which is a favorite spot for me. Take care!!

Exactly, nothing major just a little reward for the hard work of everyday jobs and just basically life. Having me time versus having to do the same thing over and over again. I dislike the feeling of being in a rut. I like to see pictures of what I did in my life when I reflect on it through the year. Sort of like a memoir and be refreshed and relaxed back at work. I think it makes a huge difference. Thanks for your input.

Not as much at the moment, unfortunately. I just don't have the money or the time to just go away for maybe a small week-end retreat and escape the day-to-day monotony just for a few days.

I enjoy camping too but the kids well they have different view. They want to get up knowing that it is in a bed that is surrounded by walls not trees, lol. We did do the camping out on the back porch with the pop up camper. That was funny. It had everything but the shower. That's as adventurous these kids would be.

As far as I am concerned, I think I like to have my vacation of my own so much. I usually go for a vacation of my own, which I enjoy myself most then. I can see a lot scenery at that time. I can free myself from hard work. I can do a lot to make my life more enjoyable. I think the time is the most happy moment. I am looking forward to seeing the next vacation's coming.

I would love too, but right now we have too many bills and the fact that hubby is working almost 7 days a week, we really don't have the time to go anywhere, even if its just for a few days. We also have 3 cats and a dog so that would be an added expense to have someone take care of them while we're gone.

That's harsh to not be able to go anywhere because of work scheduling. and we all know how job security is important these days. maybe a few hours of getting away would work for you. I know all about tight budgets, too. There were time I could not believe that the same bill rolled around so soon again. It does get better though. Take care.

Yes, at the same place and the same occasion. We go to the province every holiday vacation and sometimes ticks me off. I want a new environment I can explore too, hopefully we could plan for something interesting in the next holidays. I don't hate the province but I want another place to unwind sometimes. Same place almost every two months gives me a bored feeling, the reason I thank God for having my laptop.

Wow, China is beautiful. I would love to visit there. I would have to do a lot of homework to go there. I would not want to offend anyone by not respecting their cultures.I am like that If I go somewhere I try to be respectful in their hometown and see what their traditions are like. Thanks for responding.

well, if i go on vacation..it would be going back home because i am not from this HORR-I-BLE state. next time i go on vacation it will be a permanent vacate. lol. once i went home since being here. i was soooo depressed when i came back that i literally cried. this has been a few years ago. since then, i haven't been on vacation unless you call running from a fluke hurricane a vacation. i cried when they told everyone we could come back into the city then too.

I hear ya. Its hard to vacation lately. Hurricanes have away making things happens whether you want them too or not. I can understand being homesick, my fiance is from up north and he wants to go back every few years. He has issues though, lol. His mom and dad are close to his siblings and he feels left out because he is so far away. I feel left out when we got here because i do not want to hear about old girlfriends and who's back in town looking or asking about him, lol. Catch 22. Thanks for replying.

Yeah I enjoy camping and being out in the so called wilderness. Its so peaceful hearing the water running down creek. Swinging from the ropes into water (but you need to make sure the water is deep enough). It is an economical getaway and it is refreshing coming back to the daily hustle.

I'm sort of like you. In the Summer I take small getaways near me and some years I take a one week vacation some where sort of far away.
