I love to cook for my family, but sometimes I feel like I get stuck in a rut, cooking the same old things. I do like to look on the Internet for new recipes to try out. I have found some good things on allrecipes, although many of them are pretty bland/basic, but they give me good ideas to doctor up. The Food Network has some good ones, but are some are too complicated for me attempt during the work week. Where do you find good easy recipes for your family?

I look all over the place for my recipes, although if I watch a food program, I will go to the website of the show and look at the recipes there.
Another good site if you like Marmite is http://www.comparethemarmite.com this guys blogs his love ofr the stuff and also adds recipes for using the stuff. I'll be making a blue cheese and marmite loaf tomorrow from this site's recipe!

My apologies, I forget some places do not get Marmite! I reside in the UK.
Marmite is kind of similar to Vegemite, although Marmite is runnier...I have always really liked this a lot on hot toast, although it is awesome as a cooking ingredient too.
A lot of people dislike Marmite and Vegemite...it is a case that you either love it or hate it.

For me, it depends on what I'm in the mood to cook. If I want to make some kind of "homey" food, I ask my mom, pull out my Betty Crocker cookbook or my "Joy of Cooking" book. If I'm in the mood for a particular type of food, say Chinese, I'll usually go to the web. Allrecipes is a pretty good site as is Southernfood. A lot of sites on the web have sections specifically about "easy to make" or "quick" for your purposes. Sometimes, I'm in the mood for something specific such as Applebee's Bourbon St. steak so I'll go to KopyKat recipes online. It really just depends. I used to have a subscription to Gourmet magazine and clipped all the recipes I wanted to make. I keep them all in a drawer and surprisingly can find just the one I'm looking for when need be. I've also clipped some from boxes....like from Kraft, Good Seasons or Hidden Valley. I've got a bunch I've saved from newspapers over time as well.

I don't have to look for recipes as I don't cook usually....well in fact I rarely cook. It is my mother who cooks food for us. She gets the recipe form the TV shows that every week. She tries most of the things that is taught in the show. You too can try such TV shows.

hi! i am really not a great cook and I can't even cook a lot, but when i want to cook something new and not so traditional, i usually use the internet to find some interesting and also a non-traditional recipe for my region. But as i told, i am not that good and I have cooked only several times in my lifetime, but i hope i will become better some day!

Hello mslena75! I am not an expert in cooking, but I get good recipes from the page of Nestle. I live in Mexico so it is in spanish, but probably they also have it in english!
All other recipes I have are the ones that are printed in the products I buy! I read them while I'm still in the store and buy what I need! And the rest from my family!
Have a nice day, Libna.

I am not a cook yet. But i am preparing myself to be one... =
I recently acquire some recipe books, like "Everyday Easy meals", "Light healthy meals", etc. So far they look easy, haven't yet tried them though.
Any ideas whether I should start stocking up on spices that make the meals?

I find recipes in the internet not just meal recipes but also desserts, candies, cakes & any other cuisine from other countries.

I personally like to watch the Food Network as well for ideas, but you're right, some of the time they are too complicated and need ingredients that I don't have. However, there are few recepies on FoodNetwork.com that are quite easy to do. What I love to do, though, is to take a recipe and alter it a little bit; substitute ingredients, change portions so big pies/casseroles are mini/bite-sizes, etc. After I've done one recipe over and over again, I get restless of it but I'm comfortable enough to experiment with it. Sometimes its a success, sometimes not so much.

Watching television would be a great way to find recipes and you may also see how they are being cooked. Internet is also a good way to find recipes coz it's free unlike cookbooks, but it's sad coz many people don't rely on books anymore =|
