I might have answered yes some years ago. But now I am unsure, I knew a Woman that had been that way since she was 14, she was supposedly on heroin then.
I met her later, she lied and did anything to get money to feed the habit.
I leant her money believing that it was for food. Sadly it was to fuel the drugs she craved.
Some years later she was cleaned up, and looked very well.
I couldn't believe the difference. But it was short lived she had killed the trust people had in her, and she was soon back on the habit.
She is gone now, and in some ways, I believe that she is at peace, no longer troubled by the addiction, which she had suffered.
interested in hearing others opinions on this.

maybe...
depends. if people sincerely wanted help, who am i to refuse, afterall, i guess in some way or another, we are created to help. however, if the person himself does not want to be helped, there's a problem there. help would only be effective if it is welcome, if it's not, difficulty in the healing preocess will be encountered.
take care...
