If you have dedicated Graphics card.....try SPlayer..

As someone has already stated VLC player is the most convenient way of playing a Matroska file. It is still quite uncommon to encounter this format and I think that it is over a year since I last used such a file. I cannot even remember whether I downloaded VLC player or whether I managed to acquire a codec to play the file via Windows Media Player.

Media player classic and VLC player are very applications to play mkv files.They give great quality and without any breaks which happen in some other applications
