I suggest buying paint when a do it yourself shop has a sale. You might be able to get value tins of paint in a popular color like magnolia. You could buy white to paint any window frames or doors. You could get a budget paint tray and some cheap paint brushes. You could use old newspaper to protect your floors when you paint. If you haven't got a ladder you might be able to borrow one from a friend. You could buy cheap material to make curtains and cushion covers.
