A white lie is a polite statement that isn't true. In other words , if your best friend is wearing a dress that She thinks looks good and it does but you Hate it. Instead of hurting her feelings and tell her you hate that dress , you tell her she looks nice. That's a white lie.

Those are good descriptions of what a white lie actually is, I couldn't put it better myself so here are some litle white lies lies we have all probably heard and said; Santa Claus is the one who brings you your christmas presents, the tooth fairy, and the easter bunny!

A white lie is when you are planning a surprise party for someone and you have to lie to them so they don't find out about the party. A white lie is when someone asks you if the food is good and you tell them yes when you really don't like it. A white lie is when you tell someone something to protect them from the truth. To me a white lie is not really so bad.

Well, a white lie is termed as such because it is usually used to cover up something in the name of the better good. for example, (if you have a family) your 5 year old child caught you and your wife arguing about something and she asks why are you arguing. Of course, you would not want to create a negative image or an unfavorable experience for him so you use a "white lie" for covering it up, you may say that you are not arguing you just have a very exciting conversation blah blah... So you see, you are lying there but it is for the better. I hope I came clear :))
