Have you ever done a fund raiser for a best friend in need? Or just to help someone in need? I am running a fund raiser for a best friend of mine in desperate need of things. She and her husband have been having a hard time when it comes down to funds. Her husband is 75 years old and works everyday of his life and can't retire for another 5 years. She can't work because she has things going on with her body that makes her not able to work. They can barley keep food on the table. Would you help someone that you loved? And how would you go about making a fund raiser to make money? I make candles and soaps and I am using my stuff to run a fund raiser for her. She never new I was doing this for her and her husband until I told her. And the fund raiser already started.

I have done several things to raise funds for good causes...
Folded red ribbons for an AIDS charity, pulled a bus through town for a local scout troop, rolled a giant Easter egg around the town square for scout troop, ate donuts for local school, dyed and shaved hair for local charities...it has been very rewarding and loved every moment of the things I have done.

It's nice to be able to help others, and despite illnesses hampering me now and then I always remember to be grateful for what I have because there is always someone more worse off than I am.

Hi Dumper, those are great things you have done for people. And I am sure they are glad you helped them. I try to do what I can to help others in need. I have donated to a lot of places. On another site I am on I helped a lady for Christmas because she didn't have the funds to get her kids anything. So I went and bought stuff for her kids and sent out the packages to them. It makes me feel great inside when I can help someone in need.God bless.

Yes I agree. That is why I am helping my friend out she needs it. She cries because she goes through so much and her and her husband are up in age. In there 60's and 70's. And her husband works everyday but they barley make it from week to week. I know there are people worse off then me and that is why I do what I can to help.

That is very nice. We do fundraisers at work for people that are having a rough time. Usually if they are very ill or if they have lost a loved one. We do bake sales and raffles to raise money for them. I am always very involved because I know how hard life can be.

Thank you Jen, That is great of you to do for people in need. Life can be hard in this world. Jobs are hard to get anymore. I agree life can be very hard on people. We have our ups and down to. Some people can make very good money and have a great job when others struggle to get one. I make my candles and soaps and I have helped people that way. When people order I help people in need.

God bless you for all the kind deeds you are doing for friends sake. Your friend must be very fortunate to have you as a friend. At least your compassionate heart has lifted a little bit of her hardship. I am never involved in any fund rising activities before but I have done some charities in my own way by donating to orphanage and to the hardcore poor. We do get a lot out of life when we serve others. I quote :The finest gift that one can give to another is the gift of yourself, that is, your attention, time, wisdom and experience

I too make candles so I would make candles and sale them or have a garage sale and all the money made would go to them. I would also have a food drive where people bring food to them. Anything from cans to cooked foods that can be put in the freezer. What a shame the way things are today that people can't even have food on the table. Whats worse is a 75 year old man still has to work. I will be praying for this couple. May God Bless you for what you are doing for them.

Thank you lelin for the good ideas. I wish she lived closer to me but she doesn't. I live in Ohio and she live in Arizona. I try to do what I can for them even if they live so far away. I wish they would let us put our links up here to even have others help with the fund raiser but I know that don't let things like that happen. Thank you so much for your prayers over my friends. God bless.

Your a kind and generous towards your friend and a inspiration to us all. I never done a fund raiser in my life before, but I'm thinking about it when I'm able to work and finish my education I will find ways to raise funds for the poor because its always been the poor I want to help those who are really in need of help and health care I would tr my best to rise funds for them, first I should finish my education after that I would find a stable job and save a little bit of money to make a business out of it and half of the income I generated will to go the poor and give them basic health care.^ ^

Thank you very much natjohn. Your education is very important. I am very proud of you for getting a good education. I work from my own home making candles and soaps and try to sell those. And I work a lot online. But I don't make tons of money. I work online and make very little but I still do it anyway for at least a little bit of funds. And what I do get payed will go to my friends to. Those sound like great things you will do for people. Having a nice job that you enjoy is always a great thing. God Bless.

Hi Joe, that kind of is a fundraiser. You were trying to help raise money for a good cause. The boy scouts need help to so you did good I think. The boy scouts do a lot of things the same as girl scouts. I have seen them try to raise money before by selling cookies to help them. I know around here they sold cookies to make money for there program. And there cookies are good lol.

Aww.. that was so sweet of you. Your friend must be really lucky to have you. For me, I have done fund raisings before but they are all for school projects/organizations. Fund raising activities are really time consuming. We've done rummage sale and other kinds of selling. I think rummage sale is the most effective and least time consuming. You just have to collect used stuff/clothing/materials then find a place where you can sell those at a lower price :)

Thank you pierrella. I try to do what I can when I know a friend is in need. I have never done a rummage sale before. But it does sound like a good idea. With the weather we have been having its hard to do anything. I can't wait for spring to get here. Thank you for the idea.
