Yes, I give tips at these kinds of establishments. I still give a tip if the service is poor, but it is usually much smaller. I feel that everybody has bad days. It may be a bad day for this person and therefore I try to help them out. I know they don't make very much money. If I go to the establishment again and receive poor service, I will not go back to that place. I will take my money somewhere else.

I tip only if the service is good. Also I pay anywhere from 10 to 20 percent on a tip depending on how average or excellent they are in servicing my table. That is another reason I don't go to places that automatically put the tip in the bill. I don't think that is right at all. That tells me that the waiter doesn't need to be as good at her or his job as she should be. I think there should be a law against this.

Most of the time if the service is horriable I will leave a 10% tip. It really depends on what kind of horriable. I mean if I am waiting on a drink and have to ask for it 3 times then its the server that is wrong but if the food is taking to long to come out then there is probably an issue in the kitchen not able to be controled by the server. I try to take every thing into consideration when I leave a tip. A friend of mine had a great idea that I have some times used. If he goes to a resturant that is say around $20 a plate he will add up what the bill will be around. So for 2 people at $20 each plus drinks $3 each and an apitizer at say $10 the bill would be about $60 bucks. So a 20% tip would be 12 dollars. He would put the $12 on the table and if the server forgot a drink, messed up an orderm didn't ask if we were okay he would take a dollar each time. If the server was good and didn't lose any dollars then when he got the bill he would add or take away to actually make it the right 20% of the bill. I thought it was a great idea. That way the server is EARNING or LOSING the tip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As for salons. I think that inless they cut your hair off, bruse you from a massage, or cut your finger from getting your nails done then they should be tipped. Just because you didn't like the hair cut that you asked for or the massage that you wanted doesn't mean the person didn't deserve a tip. Most of the time we don't tip because we didn't ask for the right thing and the salon person is just doing their best.

I am the same way as you are. I will fully tip if the waiter or waitress deserves it. If I fully tip a person who was giving poor service, then they will continue to give poor service. Sometimes I leave a nickel or a dime when they are bad, to let them know that I do tip and that their service was that bad. I do not do it to be rude, but if I am paying for something it is not fair to me.

Thanks for your interest in this corner. i admire you because even the service is poor still you give nickel or dime as tip. I am not giving tip if the service is poor and if the waiter is arrogant.

Of course, I would never give tips to poor service, because the point of giving tips is that you pay more for the good service that you receive. I seldom give out tips, specially if the place already has a service charge on my bill. If it has then I would only give tips if the service is really really really great.

you are right, when the establishment has service charge in the bill giving tip is not required. unless you are admire and enjoy the way of their service.

Waiters and waitresses absolutely depend on tips as a huge part of their income. So, I will always tip. I tip generously when the service is great and less so when it is poor. Sometimes, circumstances beyond the server's control affect service. For instance, if someone calls in sick, often the server has to cover more tables and that makes an already stressful job much more stressful.

I tend to leave less for bad service But I always leave something. I tend to eat regularly at certain places and don't want someone spitting in my food because they remember no tip from me the last time I was there.

there is no standard amount in giving tip and that is an optional only to the customers.

Of course I don't. But if I frequent the place and I'm a well known regular already, I do give tips. It helps me. Especially if there's a long queue... once I come in, the personnel would see me, I would be given special attention. Money really can be powerful. Har har har.

I'm not paying the restaurant bills whenever we dine out recently so I don't really have a problem about giving out tips for the services rendered. But if given the chance to pay the bills I'll give tip if the service is good because why would you give tip if the service is poor? I think it would be a waste of money if you give it to someone who isn't worthy to have it. Although its also ok to give a tip for a poor service just for pity as long as it isn't too much.

I like your attitude for being straight forward. I know the majority of customer did not give tip for a poor service because it's unfair in part of the customer.

I do give tips if I'm satisfied with the service. I do this specially to restaurants that we often go to. If I take a cab, I give tips to cab drivers who doesn't ask any additional payment.
