I am sure that everyone of us have someone to depend to. There is also that person whom we consider as an idol. But my point here is simply to ask who is that person who has greatly influence your decision or your life and career? As for me, its my godfather. He guided me all the way and has help me and molded me into what I am now. Of course my father did show me a lot of things and taught me a lot in life. But I am talking about my career and my work. What about you?

Thank you very much for the kind words pearl. I am glad that you learned a lot from our course. The great thing about teaching is you get to share your knowledge and best of all, when you teach first aid, you get to teach people the art of saving lives... Best to you and good luck to the rest of your modules.

in regards to career, my aunt would be someone very influential in my life. so much, that since childhood my decision was firm on what career to choose. but when it comes to life, despite how i may hate my father's convictions i still look up to him because without his guidance and the principles he took so much effort to put on us i wouldn't be the type of person i am now

I see. Well I do have heard about that saying, "the more you hate the more you love". There are always attributes in a person that you will definitely admire and tend to follow no matter how much you hated such person. There is always something great in someone no matter who or what he is. Whats important is that we look at those beautiful things and set aside those that are not worth emulating. Best to you always!

we're not really that close to my aunt... maybe before, i don't know.
as for my father.. isn't it in the saying 'the more you hate, the more you love'? that's why i coined this relationship the love-hate relationship. ^_^
let's just say... despite all that pent up frustrations, i listen and live up to his principles, even some are overboard, most are helpful to live out this life.

It was my father who greatly influenced me. It was him who pushed me into getting Accounting as my degree, even if i want another. He was my model in being an honest person, specially at work.
He was a retired , honest judge. Unlike other judges who accepts some gifts, he was so adamant in not accepting gifts given to him. Unlike other judges who lives opulently during their terms, he lived a simple life until now.
He is my idol and forever he will be.

Certainly your dad is worth emulating. It is really hard to find people like your dad. Most often, we see people, they often have a price. Although, I am not saying that everyone can be bought but someone with principles and without a price is hard to find. He is indeed a great treasure and worth to be idolized.

My greatest influence about my career is my mother. She would always want to be a nurse but then she haven't reached her dreams instead she became a teacher. Inorder to have it, she decided to take me the course instead. As I study the course, I learned to love and enjoy it.. Mother knows best..^_^

Hahaha! there is always the mothers instinct. Well, that is surely interesting in your case. There are those who are just forced to take the course out of the influence of the parents and usually end up not finishing the course. Good for you and continue to love your work... Being a nurse is not an easy job but is very much rewarding and fulfilling... continue to save lives... I am sure your mom and dad is proud of you!

Hahaha.. Thank you very much.^_^ I don't have any ideas on what to take at that time so I let my mom decide for me. I just recently passed the board exam and finding a job related to my course is hard though I applied as a trainee only. I wish I could find one before the year ends so my parents will be very happy.

My DAD! :) he may be strict and hot tempered. many people feared his presence, his voice and even his shadow... (seriously) HAHA. BUT WHAT MAKES DAD AN INSPIRATION AND AN INFLUENCE TO ME IS THAT OF:
1. He is a MAN OF PRINCIPLES
2. He doesn't GIVE UP ON SOMETHING THAT IS RIGHT
3. HE believes that TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE (LIBERITAS LIBERABIT VOS)
4. WHEN HE DECIDES on SOMETHING... it SHOULD BE THE BEST not JUST a SIMPLE SOLUTION
5. HE NEVER BREAKS PROMISES (just remind him always... he forgets a lot, memory problems coming up. nyahahaha )
BUT MOST OF ALL, DAD supported me in everything that i do, he helped and showed me the skills and talents that i think is invisible and untrue.. DAD your my hero, my idol and my best friend! hehehe :)

Wow, that is definitely something that you can be proud of. I know that we all have someone to look up to in our life. Definitely your dad is one to look upon. Surely you are a lucky person. Though as you have said that he may be hot tempered and strict, somehow those characteristics have surely helped him to insist in his principles and win against other people who may want to change him into what he is not. What I like most is him being with a character... from the way you describe it, your dad is the man... a person with integrity.. Surely you should be proud!

Well, the person in life who I feel has been my Greatest influence and shared a lot of things that have helped shape me into who I am today, continuing to encourage me along with way is a wonderful woman from church. She has been there to Pray for me when things are not going the Best, as well as encourage me and give me advice when I needed it the most.
But back when I was in High School I had a teacher that always encouraged me and helped me along the way even later on in yrs. remembering some of his wonderful advice. Personally we all need Positive influences and people in our life because without them when we're really needing some help we have no where we can turn too.

The person who has greatly influence my life is no other than my father. My parents have been separated for 10 years now. And I grew up with my father. He taught me a lot about life.He has been my comforter when I feel down and a great supporter with my dreams and ambitions in life.
My father is an OFW and had been working in the middle east for 15 years now.So I grew up without him at my side all the time. And I really idolized him about that because the thought of being away from your family is the biggest sacrifice my father did.He did this for us to have a good life - for him to send us to a good school and have a better quality education, for him to provide us with the basic necessities of life (food, shelter, clothes etc.). I could only see my father once a year for 30 days of his entitled paid holiday.
He has been a great teacher of my life. He taught me to strive hard to reach my dreams and ambitions in life. That we all have downfall moments of our lives and it is really up to us to stand and double our effort to achieve it. And he taught me to not forget to pray and seek guidance to our God Almighty.

Well that is certainly a great influence my friend. I am sure that you are very proud of your father and most likely you have idolized him for that. It's not easy to be away from a love one... as you have said its a sacrifice. But the way, you said things makes everything so easy despite the fact that living such life with a father who only comes 30 days in a year. More so that your father and mother are separated. Continue to pray and may God Bless you Always!

same thing God is the very first person that really influence me in my life, esp. in my decisions. Secondly would be the people that i grow up with, but in some point i would also consider my physical and emotional being. Somehow i always considering things that i decide, it's either if i would be happy, would it be beneficial, would it be helpful and most of all if it's really what i wanted to do. It's like having a risk, esp. when you are stranded into two situation that you cannot decide which. I have look up alot of people that i knew esp. those people who look after me and those i knew became successful through there hardwork.

I am always confused. Fortunately, there're many person who help and affect me. I like them and they are much important and indispensable to me. For me, the one is my senior in my college. He was one years senior to my grade. He was the chairman in our society. He is a man of thought and high-capacity. He taught me a lot, made me strong and confident.
I sincerely thank and miss him. Since graduation we have not seen for a long time. Best wishes to him.

Hi Sir jpso138, thanks a lot for sharing this very interesting topic. For me, the person whom gives me the greatest influence in my life are basically my parents. When I was a child my parents strictly enforced some fundamental rules that compelled me to follow abide by. Those vital rules that eventually nurtured my personality to become a good person in the future. Following the ethics of goodness that being thought by me will be the best achievement i have in life. To date, some influences were indeed hoard and accumulated by me that essential for my career and present life but that's all subsequent to the influences that firmly instill and in-doctrine by my parents.

Hi sir, I guess you do have great parents considering that you look up to them as your idol and influence. It is obvious that you were cared for and were guided well in life. Your parents are surely proud of what you have become and this is all because of what they have taught you and how you were brought up. Even from the way you right, I am quite sure that you are well educated and well mannered.... Best to you always and may you have the goodness of life ahead.

I consider my parents to be of great influence to me. They have been with me for 22 years and has helped me most of the steps I took in my life. They built the foundation of who I am today. But If I have to choose between my dad or my mom, I think my mom influenced me more. My dad goes to work everyday while my mom as a housewife spend more time with us. Basically the person who spends more time with you is the person who influences you more.

Yes, jp. both our parents influence us in their own way. Spending time with them since the day we were born will surely will affect, who we are and what we will be. You do have a point that having a mother who is a housewife will make more influence in our life... Best to you and your family always!

I would say both my parents have the greatest influence in my life. Both contributed bits and pieces on how i think and how I face life. My father has always been a good provider to us, a Man with few words, but every word he spoke means a lot. My mother as well shown me on how to be compassionate and how simple things makes us happy. I am blessed having them as my parents, and i am doing everything for them as my inspiration. :)

As for me, it was my Aunt. I can still remember it was my 18th birthday and she told that she wishes me to be like her. Those words that she said strikes me a lot because my aunt is really different from my other Aunts she's goal oriented and she's success in her career (She is a RN, RM and a Businesswoman and she's good at it.). I wanted to like her successful, enjoying her youth and specially she is happy :)

I would say parents. I cannot choose any one of them. I could have included my entire family but then again before I was born, all who is there for me are my parents. Even as I grow old, way beyond my teenage spurt, I would still look upon my parents and really value their counsel and wise decision. Much more, on matters concerning seriously on life.
