Chile quake may have tipped Earth's axis. According to the article it makes days shorter. Which they say is a permanent change. 1.26 microseconds shorter. Still, won't give anyone an excuse for being late to work...would you stop and read the article? Or go on to something else? Here is the link if you want to take a peek http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/03/02/chile.quake/index.html?hpt=T2

I would stop and read the article. I am always interested in hearing things like that and learning about them. What stories like this tell me is that we really have no control over our lives. We are pretty fragile in the large scheme of things the ak man

Oh what a coincidence!I also posted a similar discussion about the phenomenon that struck Chile and now the Earth slightly changed its axis. I read the article and I even save a copy. I was really shocked and horrified by what the NASA scientist said about the shortened days of Earth!gosh, so what will happen to us?are we rapidly aged and the hours will moved fast?oh good heavens!

I read it only cause I checked the calendar yesterday to see when the time change is (in 2 weeks) as I hate it when it gets dark at 4:30pm. within the hour I am tired and thinking, "boy, must be bedtime" and look at the clock and it isn't even 6 yet! But a microsecond...is that even measurable to a 24 hour period? How many microseconds make up 1 second and is there really that much of a problem that this has to be studied and so much time and money spent on it, when there are tons of other things that could be studied and paid for that would make a huge difference to the world. I think they are just looking for more bad news to talk abouta s that is all the media seems to be able to report about these days.

Hello Ersmommy! I just heard this on the news and Im not too comfortable hearing it. I was watching 2012 last night.....so its rather scary. Now the days will be shorter...oh not that much but still....my days are too short already. I remember reading something about the earth shifting on its axis in a book from Edgar Cayce a while back but never thought it would really happen. Can you imagine how strong the earthquake must have been to be able to actually move the earth??? Its unbelievable!! I also heard that we had a small earthquake here yesterday....it was further up north from me, but I didnt feel anything. Thanks for sharing the link, I'll go read it now.
