hi,arun,I support the rule of Helmet is must...because aweat and uncomfortable are too small when compared to severe injuries or serious accident???
so,my friend, try to adjust and wear helmet whenever you ride bike,i hope you will do it.
All the best and have a nice time.

hi arunmails I am here in the USA and we also have that law. all motorcyclists must wear a helmut when motorcycling, its the law
here so you will need to find a comfortable helmet in your own country too even bicyclists here must wear helmets. look in an accident on a cycle you will undoubtedly get a head injury unless you have a helmet to protect your head. Use your brains, you do not want to be brain injured
due to a bad fall off your motorcycle do you? A little sweat is nothing
compared to ruining your whole life with head injuries.

Actually Hatley, each state in the US has its own laws regarding whether or not motorcyclists are required to wear helmets not to mention other restrictions or rules on the motorcycles themselves. It is very important to know the laws in each state, especially when you are riding through several states or even across the country.

I think it is mandatory. It is better to be safe than sorry. Wearing a helmet for those riders has been a law in this place. But, reading about your experience with the helmet, I think you should choose a helmet that would be more comfortable for you. What good will precaution do if it would be the actual cause of the accident, right?^_^
Drive/Ride safe.

helmet saves life, your head is one of the most important 'gadgets' in your body .. i have lost a few friends in motorcycle accidents .. In my country , helmet is a must but people only have them on as abiding rules not for their own safety ...
think Life or Sweat .. if Sweat is what you give priority too then go ahead and loose your life
But let me advise you as a friend , your family and friends love you and you need your brains for them
cheers

I think that it is very important that a person wear a helmet when they are operating a motorcycle. The reason that I feel this way is that I've seen some pretty gruesome motorcycle accidents that would have definitely been fatal had the person operating the motorcycle not been wearing a helmet. Here in our state it is only required to wear a helmet when the person operating the motorcycle doesn't have insurance on the motorcycle, but I think that this law needs to be changed so that everyone has to wear a helmet when they are on a motorcycle.

When Motorcycle were introduced in China about 30 years ago, a bunch of people bought them, and 30 years later very few of them still lives, why? because they didn't wear helmets.
In Canada even bick riders needs to wear helmets, not talking about motorcycles. You don't want to take chances just because is uncomfortable, I believe compare to that it sure beats splash your brain all over the place.
The military helmets are also uncomfortable in hot weather, but do you see soilders taking them off because of that? I am sure they know a few sweats now can save them a hole in the head later.
When you are riding on the road, you will never know what is going to hit you. Even you are the best rider in the world, you can still get hit by the worest driver, and without a helmet you can be sure that you are not likely to walk out in one piece.

It's been the law in the UK for many years. Wearing a helmet saves lives, and protects you from head injuries, whether you like it or not it is better to wear your helmet.

20 years ago i was working in Oman and i saw that motorcyclists had to compulsorily wear helmets otherwise they faced a heavy fine and also revoking of their license plus imprisonment and deportation if they broke the rules. The police there are very strict and no one dares break any rule there. Now Oman is much more hotter than India and if people can wear helmets there why can`t you? Its not a matter of personal comfort, my friend, its your very life that is at stake. Your life is precious not only to you but also your family and you being an educated person should realise how important the helmet is even though it causes you discomfort. So please carry on wearing it whatever the situation or circumstance. We mylotters can`t afford to lose you.

There are good and valid reasons to wear helmets, since they do prevent some serious head injuries. Unfortunately, they have also been shown to increase the number of neck injuries, especially broken necks. There are pros and cons to this issue.
I prefer to wear a helmet, even when I am not required to do so, as I feel safer with it on. I know other people that do not wear one when they are traveling in states that do not require motorcyclists to wear helmets, because they feel more comfortable without one. I know people that have been killed in crashes, and some were wearing helmets while others were not. In the instances where the people killed were not wearing a helmet, I do not think that the helmet would have made any difference. However, I know that they do prevent some head injuries that might otherwise be fatal without a helmet.

I think it should be a musy for helemts to be worn by motorcyclists. Safety is always a precaution we should not overlook. It might not make us feel comfortable or attractive to wear a helmet. It may just save your life one day.

Wearing a helmet may increase safety but it's like wearing a spacesuit to the beach. Statistically, far more of us suffer head injuries falling down than crashing a motorcycle.

I think that it is needed because I saw a man with a motorcycle that crashed near our campus gate. He had a helmet on, but it was crushed. He didn't die, but his head was bleeding bad and he's kinda groggy. I can't imagine what he would look like if he did not have a helmet on. It must have been awful.
About the heat, I know that there are helmets with little fans, to cool the head of the user. Try buying one and it might solve the sweating =)

If you want to sign something saying that you are willing to go untreated in an accident if you have a head injury, sure. Seriously, do you have any idea how much money it costs to treat preventable injuries. Maybe there is a more comfortable helmet for you if you just shop around.

hello arun,
Ok,i never thought and never got in my mind that in your country it is ok to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.
But here in our country,it is must.
So,our motorists were always using helmet when they are on the roads.
Not only the driver but also with the passengers.
I also ride a motorcycle and it's not uncomfortable to wear it.
It maybe just another add up with our get-up,but it is a must to wear one,for our own safety.
Helmet is a good protection in any case of road mishaps, and could save our lives too.

As much as I do not like a lot of law-and-government stuff, I think this helmet law is a really good idea- for the sake of motorcylce riders' own safety.
I have seen quite a few people in my country (US) riding on the highway, amoung many car, without a helmet. I think that's just completely wreckless! When you ride a motorcycle, you are completely exposed; if something happens your body is going to get it, big time.
