Hello everyone. The problem is that I used to have a drug problem, and once I got clean, I gained about 25 lbs. Well, I'm sure I needed a little bit of the weight but I gained a little extra...too much extra. It has become very irritating, and makes me feel insecure, especially in the summer time when I'm used to wearing whatever I want to. Now that summer will be coming along, my bf talks about going to the beach. He knows how I feel about my extra weight and wearing a bathing suit, but I can't put my troubles off on him. Instead I have to find a way to beat this thing so he will look at me and not other women. We live in a small apartment where we can't do much cooking so we eat fast food every single day. I know that this isn't good but I go along with what he wants usually. I'm wondering if there is a fruit diet or something that I can go on for 2 weeks which is somewhat tolerable..along with some floor exercises. I don't have anywhere to walk where I live and I can't afford a gym membership right now. Does anybody have any ideas?

Try and make changes gradually. If you try to make large changes to your diet you may not be able to maintain it.
You can buy healthy foods that don't cost a lot and prepare them even in a small kitchen or apartment. Just be creative and have fun with it.
Diets that require eating mostly just one food generally doesn't work. Most people find them boring and your body needs a variety of nutrients.
Find a friend or a club or group on the internet who offers suggestions and support for people who want to lose weight.
Good luck!

You are always going to be able to eat healthier when you cook in. I wouldn't recommend anything like eating just fruit for a couple of weeks to lose weight. It's just not healthy. I don't know what fast food places you're eating at but most of them do provide healthier options today. At Wendy's, chili and a side salad or a baked potato is a good option. McDonald's has a grilled chicken salad. Subway has a lot of great sandwiches that have under six grams of fat and they also have salads. Hop on the computer and check out the nutritional information on their website. I would still recommend that you eat meals in where you can control the fat, sodium and calories that you are taking in. In terms of exercises, you don't need to belong to a gym. Do some of your floor exercises with weights. You can use large sized cans if you can't afford to buy weights. Now walking. You really have to do some form of cardio every day. I can't imagine that you can't walk where you live. As long as you have sidewalks, you can walk. You don't have to go to a park. One of our favorite places to walk when it gets too hot to walk outside is at the mall. Two trips around the mall and we've put in a mile. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. You are right...the restaurants usually have a low fat menu of some sort.. I try not to place the blame on my bf but I feel like the hardest part for me right now is trying to get him to understand that I am serious about losing weight. He always laughs at me when I talk about it and it is not funny at all. He brings food home to me without asking what I want. He really acts insensitive sometimes but that's another story I guess. Anyway..he's the reason why I say I can't walk where I live. I live downtown in a big city and he doesn't want me walking anywhere because of the type of people that hang around down here. I guess I understand but he doesn't try to understand that no exercise is killing me. I know I've got to figure something out though. I will try lifting cans for weights though. That will help.. I always like to turn on the music and dance for about 30 minutes too.

One trick I have found to be helpful is to use smaller plates when you eat. A smaller plate looks like you have plenty of food to eat, but you can reduce your food intake just by using that smaller plate.

No, sorry. The only suggestion ihave for you is that you have to visit a doctor , an expert about nutrition. And ask HIM what you could do, not on internet, you dont know who can answer or whatever he/she could say. Its your health, not any issue.
A doctor will tell you whatever you can do, basing on you clinic history , and all you can tell him.
But reading what you said, the main thing to start a healthy diet, a helthy life is to stop with fast food.Even you know its not healthy.
Take care , and good luck!.

Select an exercise pattern to suit your life style. All of us have different life styles and professions so there is no sense in trying to follow the book strictly. Try and follow an exercise routine that is suitable for you. You have to understand that even more important than the exercise it is sticking to it. So unless you choose something that can suit your life style, you are not going to stick on to it.

i would talk to your doctor first of all to see what a safe diet would be for you, then, i would go to the library and see what books i can get on cooking, dieting and exercises. i would start walking a lot now that the nice weather is coming (what about running up and down your stairs in your house?) and start a food diary. that means you write down every ounce of food you put in your mouth.

I guess drink more water will help. Often, people don't get hungry that much, they just need more water.
For exercise, I guess if you can't be in the gym, push ups and sit-ups are the best combo. Ropes jumping is another great option as well, but all of them need your dedication and time.

Up until now, I only trust the conventional ways of reducing weight. I must admit that I am not in an ideal weight too. But I have seen many proof which promised people to lose weight in an instant. That way just assures me further to the conventional way. Anyway, the conventional way I mentioned is managing dietary system, and doing enough exercise. Maybe I can say that this way is the hardest of all that people can think. But I can tell you, if you can reduce weight by this way, our body will adapt more properly. Do not push too hard in exercise, because our emotion can easily be distracted by tired condition. My advise is to take this slowly but sure.
