REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH BILL IN THE PHILIPPINES
There are four bills pertaining to reproductive health and/or population management that have been filed for deliberation in both the House of Representatives and the Senate for the 14th Congress. These are House Bill No. 7 authored by Rep. Edcel Lagman, House Bill No. 812 authored by Rep. Janette Garin, Senate Bill No. 40 authored by Sen. Rodolfo Biazon and Senate Bill No. 43 uthored by Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
The most controversial of these bills is House Bill No. 17 authored by Rep. Edcel Lagman. This bill, according to Rep. Lagman, promotes information on and access to both natural and modern family planning methods that are medically safe and legally permissible. It assures an enabling environment where women and couples have the freedom of informed choice on the mode of family planning they want to adopt based on their need, personal convictions and religious beliefs.

i don't know what makes it controversial since the country is over-populated and either not every one knew natural methods or others failed to prevent getting pregnant despite the habitual practice of natural method propose by the church.

I totally agree with you LetranKnight...I don't see anything wrong with this reproductive health bill...aside from overpopulation here in our country I believe there are also high incidence of high risk pregnancy among women. I vouch for this reproductive health bill because of the following problems in our country:
1) overpopulation
2) unwanted pregnancies among teens
3) high risk pregnancies due to unwanted pregnancies
4) increased number of abortions
5) maternal deaths
I just do hope jerryrejalde see this perspective because this problems are true and they naturally happen especially among the poor population. It's just our stupid culture which dictates our limitations with regards to contraception.

Wow! That's great to here. It means that Filipinos now know that RH is important. That they are now using their brains.
Philippines is a Catholic country, and the church is very much against this RH bill. They are even saying that any candidate who will promote or is PRO RH Bill will not be endorsed by the church. This threat had promted the candidates not to openly take side about the RH Bill issue.
I wonder if the candidates know that the Filipino people would love a candidate that is PRO RH Bill?
