I am using stainless steel and copper bottoms for cooking. I am really confused...what type of utensils to use for cooking? Some says its not really good for health, we have to use aluminiums. Is it so? Can u please share your views and opinions on this???

Hi! I use stanless steel utensils whenI am cooking, because they are easier to be cleaned, but I really don't cook very often- maybe 5-6 times a month :)

Stainless steel is the best from a safety and durability point of view, especially when cooking anything with any acidity in it. Acids react with copper, brass and aluminium, producing copper, tin and aluminium salts. Copper and tin (stannous) salts are definitely harmful and there are some concerns about aluminium salts as well. I have a very good aluminium pan which must be nearly 80 years old (it was produced in the 1930s). I use it now only for boiling potatoes, cooking rice and making soup. For cooking fruit and anything with tomato in it, I use a stainless steel pan with a copper bottom (which doesn't come into contact with the food) to spread the heat.
To demonstrate how acid can dissolve some of the aluminium, I only have to cook some rhubarb in the aluminium pan (which I occasionally do to clean it). It comes up bright and new-looking (and I don't eat the rhubarb, needless to say!).

Wooden tools for cooking on the burner.......???? I don't know, what utensils to keep on the burner which will be good for health. Otherwise, I know tupperwares and microwave products but, we can not use these products in a hurry. I want to know the utensils to keep on the gas burner.
