Will you read the credits at the end of the program?

I like to know who the actors are in films and TV programmes that we watch.
Sometimes it can become a bit of an obsession.
I will say to my husband 'don't turn to the other channel yet' and he will say 'why not'?
I will answer 'well I want to read the credits '(The list of names).
I can be racking my brains trying to remember an actors name and so the credits are interesting.
A few times at the cinema I will loiter while putting on my coat so that I can read the credits without seeming like a total nutter.
It is maddening when just as the names are put up, the picture is made tiny so they can show another picture beside it ,because it means all the writing is so small,it is unreadable.
Do you like to know the actors names?

Hello
I do but not to this extent, if it means this much I would say mylot it this way you would get a complete run down of who was in the picture, like you said sometimes either the credits are too small or the do it so fast you get dizzy trying to keep up, so maybe if you would like to mylot it that would be a great help to you.
Thank you.

Hello
Wow that is unfair you cannot use mylot it but I understand wanting to know who plays in the movies you watch, I like youtube for this reason as well, youtube is a good place to look back at all the things you like to watch maybe you should try that.
Thank you, good luck, let me know how it works out for you.

Maybe they will sort it out eventually. It isn't so bad as there are lots of other search engines to choose from.

Oh I see you mean search for it in the mylot search box!
Unfortunately the search facility doesn't seem to work for us in the UK so I would have to 'something else search' it :P.
We do have imdb though which is a very handy thing for people like me who can't keep still till I find out who everyone is .

I only do that if the actor looks familiar, but I can't seem to put his or her face somewhere, and I need to know their name so I can search it when I get home. Hahahahaha. I seldom look at the credits, other than if they have a video with it, or the funny takes that they have during the shooting of the film.

I like when they put the mistakes at the end of films all except those 3d animations where they make up mistakes and they aren't funny at all.
Some of the credits have some interesting backgrounds. I think Lord of the rings did.

I stopped watching films on network t.v. for that reason, I can't see the credits. I always remain seated or at least stand by my seat and read All the credits of films I see in the theater.

It is quite disappointing if they are distorted or too small isn't it?
I'm sure the people who's names are being listed wish they were left in a readable state too.

For me it really depends on the situation. I will read the credits at the end of a program if there was something about it that really stood out to me like some really catchy music or an actor that I've never seen before that I think is talented. However, if neither of these things apply, then I will not typically watch the credits because I feel like there are better things that I can do with my time.

Sometimes I have watched all through a film and I am thinking ,what was that character called? LOL
Then I watch it to find that out.
Yesterday we watched a TV series and I realised the person I had thought was called Billy all through the episode, was actually named Mickey.
Hehe I have only seen that same character for about 12 other episodes and all that time in my mind he was Billy.

For most of the time, I read the credits, especially when it comes to the music. But if the music/soundtrack wasn't good, then I guess I just leave...
Really, I think to watch the credit is more like an obsession than your original interest.

LOL well I don't think I am obsessed but I do wonder what percentage of people really do read them.

usually i don't. it's because the main thing i want to search is the extra video while in the credit.

Yes you like to see the clips that they play while the credits are being listed, me too.
I think those are worth watching out for and sometimes there is no warning that they are coming.

Most of the programs here are showing something else on the television screen while the credits roll in very tiny print in a couple of inches of space. Or, they scroll by so quickly you can't read them. In most cases they show the actors name BEFORE the show. I find that my best bet is to go online to IMBD to find the information I'm looking for. I can't read any credits at the end of any tv show.

I cant think that the program and film makers are pleased that all the names are unreadable but its all about time and money these days .
The more adverts they can squash in,the less time they have to talk between shows and so they overlap everything.

Makes a bit of a mockery of it .
The people who would really care are the ones who used to get work because their names were shown after the film.
Imagine, your looking for an animation company and you see a really good film with just the right thing and you cant read the tiny little words in the left hand corner so you go a different route and hire someone else instead.

i do read the closing credits whenever i finish watching a movie that i like to see who is who in the movie, not only actors but the production crew, as well. You have to understand that if you are watching a movie on TV and try to read the closing credits, even if it is in full screen, you can never read it because it was made for the movie screen,

btw, you can always know whether the movie is meant for tv or for the big screen. if there are a lot of close ups then it is primarily made for tv home viewing but there are a lot of panoramic shots then obviously, it is meant for the big screen theaters.

I think that is why they centralize the lettering, so that even on a home screen you can read them.
We have a huge screen at home as my husband was given a 50 inch monitor when work were doing a refit so it can be in wide screen or cinema view but even on the ordinary sized TV we had before, it was almost always possible to see them.

The credits irritate me no end. They are endless, some film credits seem to go on longer than the film. What is a "Best Boy" anyway? We get the assistant dresser to the associate dresser, and the gaffer (does he carry rolls of tape?) plus people that presumably do things like park the cars and polish the lead actors' halos! I have no interest in the actors especially, they are doing a job, some better than others. Now you've got me thinking about all those self congratulatory programmes like the Oscars, BAFTAs etc...... I'm going for a cuppa and calm down. LOL.

LOL I don't really look at the actors in a worshipful way,its more a challenge to remember their names ,game with me.
I like some of the names that come up for things like lead grip, second grip hehe.
My mum once said there is always a fictitious name in there somewhere.
I only watch for the main actors and sometimes the date .
There was a man with the same name as my dad who would have is name appear on the credits a lot and we always called out Dad you are on the telly again when we saw it.
We don't watch all those awful Oscar ceremonies. My mum used to but I don't know why, they usually blither on about people you have never heard of and probably never will ,it seems a very odd thing to televise, a bit like televising the local pigeon fanciers club prize giving .

You too? I've even got my daughter doing it. She's 20 now, and we'll both be staring at the screen, pointing or saying "I was right!! It was that guy from --!"
It's a game, trying to recognize people from other shows. Or you'll see someone who is so tantalizingly familiar, but the name is unknown. Frustrating. I love imdb.com so I can look them up and try to find out where the heck I saw them from.
If you've ever seen Mel Brooks movies, there are added tidbits from watching the credits. Steven Spielberg does it too, in his cartoons. There are little funny sayings, goofy names, or whacked comments. They always have a surprise somewhere in the credits. Brooks tends to have lots of them.

I didn't know that. The things I saw on Spielberg's cast list, like on Tiny Toons or Freakazoid, were obvious ones. This wasn't one of them, but it's similar brand of humor, like "Stinky Smellsalot". Obvious goofies. I haven't seen Mel Brooks in some time, but I think his were also obvious.

My mother used to act on stage and said that there was always some fictitious name in the program listing (printed on paper in those days) and that they carried it on into TV listings so somewhere you might find a completely bogus profession or joke name.
I have never come across anything that obviously is but I expect if you work in the industry you would know.
A sort of in joke I suppose.

It depends on my mood and what I'm looking for!
I am more of a credits fan in movies. There are many actors and actresses whose names I am not familiar with, and I try my best to search for their names in the credits. Another reason why I linger for the credits is because I struggle to memorize or write down the names of the songs played in the movie. Voila! Instant soundtrack hahahaha...
Happy MyLotting!

Hi, I think I won't do that all the time but when I am very attracted to the ending theme song, I will sit through to find out who sang the song. Most of the shows that I watch, I already know the cast name although there might be times that I would need to sit down and search through the cast name because of their makeup making them looking like another person.

We used to know an actor quite a long time ago and I would always look our for his name in films he was in even though we knew it was him anyway.

Sometimes I also sit and watch the credits because sometimes they have more scenes to show in the movie. I watch the credits mainly to see the name of the song artist or to see if I might recognize a name since we all probably grew up with someone who (unknown to us) went to Hollywood and Vegas to chase a dream. I know two guys (one the principal of the adult ed school where I worked and the other a kid I knew in the YMCA) who had bit parts in two movies. And for the longest time I thought a young Adam Sandler was one of the kids in Caddy Shack. So I scoured the credits and found out I was wrong.

I do that quite a lot.
There are so many actors that people who act can easily have doubles.
One of the carpenters at work used to make props for film and he had even been roped in as a double a few times.
I expect if I looked on the films he was working on ,there he would be as MR so and so's double.

Yes I do sometime I do not. If I find the movie very interesting, like I really enjoy the story but I am not familiar with the actors and actresses who portray the role I wait till credits shown before leaving the cinema. I also do that when watching movie on cable channel, I look for the name of the actor and I will search in the net. I do that when watching movies which the actors played the role and I am not familiar with them. That happens when I watched Step UP 2. I hardly know the actors and actresses there but I love the story, so I wait for the credits and I search the name of the actors in the net. I became their fan after that.

My son had a collection of DVD's for a series called serenity and there was a girl on there that he liked. Then when the Sarah Connor chronicles came on TV,there she was.
He knew her name because he made a point of looking it up on his DVD's.
He said that the serenity series was axed which was a shame because they are very original but at least he saw his beloved in something else and could name her LOL.

I usually recognise tunes from films but I hardly ever knw what they are called.
Even things like bond films, I think of the song as the same name as the film.

if i'm at the movies i have to stay reading until they bring the lights up. quite apart from liking to read the soundtrack credits a lot of films these days have outtakes and other funny bits after the credits. i don't do it on tv as really they're just too small to read.

Hi.:-)
I sometimes do read the credits especially if I enjoyed the movie. Or if the actors who played the roles are not familiar to me.And if the soundtrack is new and I'd love to know the title of it and its performer.
However, there are movies that I don't even bother to take a glimpse on whom the credits should belong to especially if it is a dull one.
Have a great day.:-)

we sometimes debate the year of the film or TV series and it is a long wait to reach the very last page of the credits when the year is displayed.
It can be very surprising if it is earlier or later than you imagined though.

Yes I like to read the credits to a certain extent. I read the actors or the director or producer and sometimes I like to reead the songs used in the film. but I really dont sit there and read everyones name in the making of the film. Some of the credits go to fast to read them anyways...makes you wonder what the point of even doing that then.

Hey friend,
It's a very good habit you've got which matches with mine. Whether it's good or bad, I don't care. I love to read the names of the cast artists and crews with whose labour the programme/movie has been possible. I'm very much eager to know the names of the actors too. It may seem bothersome to people. But It's my passion
Have a nice day.

I find it quite disappointing when they have cut the credits off.
All that time thinking ,I will find out the name of that actor at the end and then there is no chance to do so after all.
