I do believe it is very important. You need to make a good first impression about yourself. The interviewer will judge the way you look,so you wouldn't want to give the wrong idea about yourself. What do you think is it important?

Yes, it is important to dress smartly for a job interview. If you dress well for a job interview, you are showing the interviewee that you are professional and serious in applying for the job. First impressions can make or break an applicant's chance of getting a call back after an interview that is why it is important to dress smartly and answer confidently and intelligently during a job interview.

"If you dress well for a job interview, you are showing the interviewee that you are professional and serious in applying for the job." Oops.. I meant interviewer, not interviewee.

That is true,it's good to make a good first impression, because the interviewer is gonna judge you for your first impression. You only get one chance for that.I get so nervous at job interviews.

I hold a managerial position, and often has to interview people. By their clothes I can judge whether that person has a good idea of what the position/job is all about. I also appreciate them because it shows how eager that person is willing to do to get the job. And after years of studying people and their choices of clothes and accessories, I can guess that person's character by one look. Not in details but just in general, but enough to know whether that person is suited for the job or not. Of course clothing is not entirely the most important thing we have to consider when applying for the job. Most interviewer also loves to judge the person's body language, especially the way you sit, and use your hands.

That's sounds true.It shows the person is going out of their way to get the job,and that they really want it.When I attend an interview,I dress the best I can because I want to make a good first impression.I get nervous at job interviews, but I usually am nervous over nothing, because I do alright at it.

I think it really depends on the interview and the circumstances. I actually have an interview today and it's a good job at a hospital and I'm really nervous about it and I want to make a good impression so I'm going to dress nice because I'm really hoping to get the job. I plan on wearing a dress and everything. When I applied to work as a server where I currently work, though, I wore dress pants and a nice shirt. Nothing really fancy, but nice enough for me to look good and presentable. However, when I applied to my job before that I wore regular clothes (jeans and a t-shirt) because I already knew the people that worked there and it was a very informal thing, so I didn't really need to dress up for it. It's usually a good idea to wear something nice, though. It doesn't have to be a dress, but dress pants and a dress shirt at least are good ideas. ^_^

not really as long as you look presentable with what you wear so no nee to wear those expensive clothes just to empress them what matter is on how the applicant handle the question an answer the question very well an he answered them correctly without having any doubt with his answer or shall i say answer with full of confidence. though of course, if you have a good pair of clothes for an interview then you can wear them as long as its not over fashion with so many colors and design

I think dressing in clean decent clothes is good.I mean you don't have to look like a fashion model.I also don't think wearing worn out clothes makes a good impression.Just something casual and clean that matches.

it is. but if i were the interviewer, i wouldn't mind what the applicant is wearing as long as he is honest with what he is saying.a lot of applicants would try to impress the interviewer, which for me i think is not a big minus... but of course, that's what they always say, impress the interviewer

Usually you should dress appropriately. You can't dress like a bum and expect to get hired .I would not hire someone who didn't dress for the job interview.Dressing is important.

Most of the interviewers assess certain aspects from body language, how you present yourself. First impression is the best impression really plays in most of the interviews.

Hi Java, Yes, how you dress for a job interview is very important. If you are applying for a professional job then you want to look professional. If it is a job where you are not required to dress up then you still want to dress neat and clean. If you go to the interview looking sloppy then you will give the impression that you don't care all that much about getting the job.

Yes,I do believe in the dress code for an interview ie.plain full sleeved shirt, matching pant and a matching tie. I firmly believe that more than making a positive first impression,a dress code marks your transition from a fresher to a professional and gives you confidence to deal effectively with the challenge(interview) in front of you.

i think it's very impotant for a job, just because that's usually your only chance to prove to them that you can do what you say you can do. Impressions are usually dog eat dog in the business world.

Getting a job interview is a lucky one - You have to make proper use of this.Hence lot of precautions have to be considered as the interviewers look everything about you, your tidiness, your approach, your dressing, your movements and what not. Your entrance should create an atmosphere in the room that - yes this person is suitable for our company. this gives you the real success.

I think it is very important of how you dress for a job interview as well as on the job. You want the interviewer to think you are professional, serious about working/job/company, clean (hygeine is big thing in jobs). I tend to wear black dress pants with a very nice top that is not low cute, shimmery, shear or anything like that because its' not professional.

Yes, I think it is important to make a good first impression when going for an interview. But I have been only interviewed a couple of times and in my cases the dress was not that important. The dress is important in certain type of jobs.

I think it depends on the job's nature. But whatever it is, the way you look is important. I agree with you! You see, if you want to have successful interview you should make good impression. And the first thing the interviewer will see in you are your clothes and face. The second thing is your greeting. The beginning of the interview is very important!

Yes it is very important. Besides, how you dress yourself shows your confidence. When you are properly dressed, you feel good and confident on how you look.

Very much so. Your clothes help sell you. Since they are likely to be the first that an interview has to judge you on, should you look unsuitable, you have a lot more talking to do to make up for it.
