Clearing of Zero Response Post

United States
March 3, 2010 2:42pm CST
I just went over to the no response page to look and wondered how many of us are participating in the clearing of the 4 year old no responses. I know that there has to be a good reason that MyLot has move these old post to the front and I am trying to do my part to clear them up. But right now I while writing this I am questioning why I care. Most of the people that have these 4 year old no response post are not even here on MyLot anymore. I wonder if any of them have come back to MyLot after recieving a response after such a long period of time. If you are answer some of these post what are some of the more interesting post you have found? If you are someone that has returned to MyLot after recieving an answer to an old post let us know that you have returned.

I have been helping - and I almost ruined my reputation while I was at it. Some of the topics are quite juicy but not enough to be reported so I just carried on responding and some of my friends caught me I( am reporting many too but to get them off the page I have to respond and then I get a notification and have to delete that too so it's a lot of work

mysdianait, I can't believe your friends would treat you that way. LOL Don't they understand you are doing it for the betterment of MyLot. I know you love this place and do all you can to make it great. Maybe we can put a positive spin on this and get them all to join in to clean this place up, even if it is one bad post at a time. Thanks for your response.

Congrats on your milestone! Well yes I definately do love myLot and have a lot of fun here. I was surprised that they found me there though and they had to go looking for me on purpose too as aome days had passed before they found me Some did start joining in then I'm not sure whether they gave up or not. It's pretty boring over there

Way to do you part to clean this place up. Some of those post have no way to respond to them. I think someone is just putting something in to either flag it to admin as a violation or to make it go away from the list.

Some of us were having a little fun with them yesterday. And once some were answered other members replied, breathing new life into them.

Looking over the first page of them I see that nearly all of the posters have not been active in the last four years and looking at the posts, I saw little there that I'd have wanted to respond to four years ago let alone now. Which is not to say that there might be some undiscovered gem amungst all the dross, but it does seem to be a bit unlikely.

Well since i haven't been here quite that long I will dig for the gem amungst the dross. I found one yesterday that was about a movie I enjoyed and commented on it only to have it deleted. But I guess thats the price you pay.

I have been responding. So far I have not gotten a response back from any of the original posters. And I have come across very, very few that were even remotely interesting topics.

You are so right about most of the topics not being of any interest, but it is the only way to get rid of these post. Thanks for your response.

Haha - I have just been to answer a few myself and wondered the same thing. It does seem a bit of a waste of time since, as you say, many of these people have moved on but, they are clogging up the system here. I am surprised that admin haven't gone in and at least deleted some of the 'no longer active' or fishing for referral ones. No, I haven't found anything interesting yet

You and I must have been over there at the same time yesterday becuase I think I commented on some of the same ones that you did. I think you are right about the admin cleaning them up but what seems to be happening is once a reply has been posted it causes the flag to come up that they are in violation of policy. I wonder if this has something to do with the age of the post.

I have not gone and responded to the older ones, and I doubt I iwll. It seems that they didn't get any responses, because they weren't interesting enough to respond to, or they just weren't thought out well enough to get responses. I just feel there are enough discussions that are new to respond to, without responding to the 4 year old posts. I just think that mylot should delete them totally, since the ones that started them, are more than likely note even here anymore, and they won't comment back anyway. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Maybe admin will look into clearing old post that don't have response and the people that made the original post have not participated in any discussions in more than a set period of time. I know that I have occasionally found a good discussion on the no response page that was a couple of days old in a topic that I did not have marked or that had so many others topics posted that I somehow missed it. So I wish I could find some of the newer no response topics.
