Apparently theres been a study done and now its official, there are quite a lot of healthy reasons to eat or use honey. The most important benefit I think is the fact that it helps heal burns. Who didnt burn themselves while cooking. I know I have so many times.....Ive burned my fingers really badly, my hand was bandaged for at least 3 weeks, not to mention the inside of my arms. Maybe if I would have known this then, I wouldnt have scars now. So this is how you do it, you burn yourself, pour cold water over the burn, then pat dry "gently" then apply honey generously, cover with a bandage. Do this every morning and night and in a day or so, it'll all be gone. Has anyone ever tried this before?

Lots of benefits with Honey -in fact as per the old Indian Ayurveda medical treatment, Honey is used as base for almost all medicines as it has its own good properties when even taken internally, externally also used besides burns it beautifies the skin and improves skin texture and tones.

Hi, but be careful of the line of ants that will follow-haha again!!! And by the way I think even turmeric is good for the skin, brides use the latter to make their skins glow for a couple of nights before their marriage.

I'd never heard of this before so thanks for bringing the topic up my friend. Well, it was fairly recently the last time I scalded myself with hot water from a pan. It went all over my right wrist and the pain was stinging and made me feel sick. Anyway, I ran extremely cold water on the wrist for at least 10 minutes, then wrapped a wet teatowel around it so I could at least try to eat my tea! I was in agony! I then ran upstairs and immersed my lower arm in the bathroom sink of ice cold water. Then I wrapped my wrist again in a wet teatowel then off hubby took me to A & E where I had to wait about 45 minutes to get seen (the longest 45 minutes ever) but the question is, would I have to go through all this if I'd had honey in the cupboard lol. In A & E I had a bandage put on my "wound" and it felt amazing, then I went back a couple of days after that for a replacement bandage. As for my wrist now, because of the cold water it has healed (and didn't scar) so I was extremely lucky. There is a slight redness there and the wrist itself is more sensitive but I can put up with that. The horror stories of the Nurse in A & E on what some people put on their injuries were unbelievable...like Germolene and other such creams. Needless to say, their injuries did scar so I think I did do the right thing in immersing my arm in cold water.

Hello Janey! Apparently you could have saved yourself a trip to the A & E and some horrible pain also. So sorry you had to suffer that much. I know how painful it is. Burned the tip of my fingers when I grabbed a sizzling hot metal handle. We have a nurse number we can call here any time of day and night, she told me to run cold water over my hand until I couldnt feel pain. She said that some people use butter, cream and even toothpaste on burns. She asked me if I had put anything on it and I said no, it had just happened and I called right away to know what to do. Now why she didnt tell me to put honey on it.......I guess the study wasnt out yet. But now we both know what to do, dont we?? Glad I could help but lets hope that neither of us have to go through this again!!! Take care my friend.

It all depends on the honey you are using. The honey that you get at the grocery store has been pasteurized killing the good bacteria and enzymes. You want to use raw honey that hasn't been heated over 93 degrees. Real raw honey is almost solid like butter from the fridge. I learned this the other day when I went to my local health food store to get what I thought was raw honey. It turned out that what I thought was raw honey had been pasteurized and the bee keepers were selling it as raw honey. Raw honey cost about the same as pasteurized honey. There is a honey called Manuka honey that is produced only in New Zealand That is better yet than locally produced honey. http://www.manukahoneytx.blogspot.com/?gclid=COKv1--uoKACFYha2godskUxZg http://www.manukahoneytx.blogspot.com/?gclid=COKv1--uoKACFYha2godskUxZg

This is a very old cure and I forget about it. We keep an aloe plant for burns and other sores. But next burn I'll try to remember the honey. Thanks

Hello Savypat! I tried aloe on my burns and it took a while to do its magic. According to what they said about honey, it seems to work faster. I too will try it next time. Thanks!

When I was still in college (I'm a nursing major), my teachers used to say that honey had medicinal properties. It takes a very long time to spoil (they found honey in the pyramids of pharaohs). It makes a good covering for wounds as it prevents the bandage from sticking to the skin. I've never tried it out yet, but in case a situation calls for honey, I shall try applying it

I have never used honey to treat a burn, but I have also heard that if you can find someone selling honey made locally in your area, eating this "local" honey will help with seasonal allergies if you have a problem with them. I have been meaning to try it, but I never seem to have any cash on me when I find someone selling it LOL

Hi Magicalbubbles I have never heard of that type of remedy before I guess we learn something new everyday As someone else mentioned I don't think I would like the idea of the sticky feeling of the honey if I had a burn , Aloe Vera works very well for burns including sun burn and so does baking soda it works on grease burns from frying food also on burns from steam it absorbs the heat from the burn I have tried that and it does work a coworker told me about using mustard I have yet to try that one he said it works but I don't think I will try that one.

Next time you have a sore throat try having a glass of hot water with honey mixed in. It will relieve all pain. I like to use honey for burns, the problem is I hate the sticky feeling but it is well worth it. Thank you for bringing this to everyone attention!

Hello TeamCholent and you're welcome!! I will try it next time I have a sore throat. Thanks for reminding me. I too hate how sticky it is. They say you can make a mask for your face and its a yukky sensation but makes your skin so soft after hehe! Have a nice day!
