some people find talking about personal stuff on here very theraputic,as no one knows who you are,so you can say what you like,,if you don't feel comfortable with sharing personal stuff you don't have to,i won't be offended

Yes, there are a lot of topics on here where I just blink and look at the computer. They seem to delve into the too personal area and it is something that I do not really want to touch with a ten foot pole. I mean, given personal examples can add to a topic. However, there are really certain lines that should not be crossed under any circumstances and I find that there are many people who come dangerously close to crossing said lines.
I think I feel comfortable but only to an extent. I will tend to be rather vague on some of the more private details. I also tend to edit out the involvement of others, as while I might feel comfortable, others may not be as comfortable. However, as I said, there are lines and some of them should not really be crossed on here or any other public forum.

I guess it's because that most people here don't know anyone in myLot personally, which makes it easier for them to tell their secrets and problems (or "wash their dirty linens," to use your term) and get advice from an objective point of view. As what I see in most discussions that talk about their everyday problems, those are issues that a lot of us encounter in our lives. The situations are pretty general. I don't think that it violates their privacy -- first of all they chose to divulge it here in the hopes that someone will hear them out. Second, as long as they're not mentioning specifics (names, places, etc.) then I guess that's okay. And as long as it's okay with the moderators in myLot, then that's fine by me.

I really do not think so, most sincere discussion are those that live in reality, and that place is so interesting, because you can freely discuss what you live, how you feel.
Only to discuss general issues is not possible, there may have to put a bit of your soul, all have something to learn from the life stories of others, gain experience.
Is not fair to say that people come here just to wash their dirty linens;
We all have dirty laundry in our lives, we are sure that you going to talk about what's happening in your life.

i guess washing dirty lines is not the correct words to use as we are just here to share our personal feelings and i dont think they are dirty. in my opinion, theres nothing wrong for me or for others to share their very personal story as they are not forced to do that and its based on their own will, somehow it helps them a lot to lessen the burden they have in life specially if they are scared or shy enough to tell those with their family and friends. in my case if i tell my very personal story here its alright with me since members here doesnt know me personally at all so they will just share their advise to you. if they will judge you because of that then its ok as they cant see you personally to insult you face to face. they cant even harm you here but just to give their piece of advice.

Since most here login incognito this is the only place they can pour out their woes. We have a choice not to respond if we feel uncomfortable dealing with it but for them I guess it is kind of a tension relieving tool. This does not violate guidelines and so anyone is free to open up.
