Do you still sent letters or you only use the mails and the chat softwares???

March 4, 2010 6:00am CST
Hello my dear Mylot friends Two days ago I received a letter from my grandmother, who has sent me a letter with the traditional bangles for the "Baba Marta" festival in it. And today I thought of it, while i was looking my bangles on my hand, how rarely we sent letters to our family or friends! So that's why I want to ask you: "Do you still send letters to your family and friends or you prefer and only send mails or chat with them?" I am waiting for you

hi! yes, I also haven't sent letters from many years, because there are easier way now as you say, but i am actually sad about that, because letter writing brings much more joy for you and for those you send it to, because it is something more valuable than the mails! don't you agree?

You just found me out. I got so lazy since i got my laptop, so i'll rather send a mail than writing a letter. Actually a shame as i always enjoyed writing letters. TATA.

Hi saphrina! yes, we all got lazy with all these new technologies and many have really forgotten how to write a letter, which is a little bit sad, because the letter writing is really something much more different that sending the common emails. the touch of the paper, the pen in the hand- these things can't really be replaced! TATA

wow! you are really fast with the responses- maybe you get some messages on your mobile phone? yes, i am also lazy about that thing!

It's been quite long time since I wrote my last letter. If I am not mistaken, it was more than a year ago, and I wrote a letter and made a card for the child I sponsored through World Vision. As there's no other way I can contact her, except sending her "real" letters. Now I remember I haven't been writing to her for so long. Other than that, I usually just chat with my friends online, either using Facebook, Yahoo chat or Gtalk. I do not have any chatting software installed in my computer too, I just chat with them when I login to the websites. I seldom send emails nowadays too. Sometimes I just chat with my friends when we are playing the Facebook applications.

I really don't use facebook to chat with my friends. skype is better:)

Hello Phoenix!! I havent sent a letter for a very long time. I do everything via email or chat messengers now. I do have friends in Norway and Australia and they keep sending me xmas cards and expect the same back. I feel bad everytime I have to use paper. Its not like we dont wish each other merry xmas....we do it online so why also send a card? I must say, they get angry with me for not sending them cards but I cant help myself. It would be different if I were on vacation sending postcards though.

Sorry for being the only one but I hate wasting paper. Everytime I use a piece of paper, I think of the tree that had to be cut so I can write on paper. Thats why Im happy I can do it online, that way it doesnt hurt any trees you see? Sorry for the misunderstanding. I used to be a secretary, so Ive done my share of writing letters and Ive always enjoyed it very much so. But Id rather keep the trees and not have to use paper.

hi! well, why do you dislike sending letters? is there something in the past, that made you dislike it, or you just don't want to waste your time sitting and writing letters or postcards? I ask because you are the first who says, that don't like to write letters, not that have no time like the most, but dislike it! it is really a little bit strange my friend :)

Thanks phoenix for your advise, but you know,it's very difficult to write at length staying at office. The boss can screw me up anytime. But I can't stop mylotting avoiding the shrewd eyes of my boss. That's why I've made a summery of what I wanted to say at length.See,now I'm home and could write pages after pages and there is no bar. It's not about the reward for which I write. It's because I love to share ideas being honest all the time. And never mind, small but witty writing should also be appreciated rather than the amount. Thanks anyway. Now being elaborative, mailing system does exist as an alternative to the technological debacle that could happen anytime due to satellite failure or unharnessed waste of power[technical terminology].On the other hand, countries like India, where considerable portion of population belongs to the shadow of illiteracy, depends mostly on mailing system as the revolutionary step of technology is yet to trade in the remote parts of the country. And finally the old generation still doesn't like to take the all probable risk of new technology!!They'd prefer pen and paper instead. Like it?

I admit it's been a while since I send letters through the traditional way. Because of the fast-paced technology, important messages and greetings are sent through emails and even in social networking sites like facebook. I usually send my letters via email. It's free, fast and convenient way of passing information. But I do admit I miss the receiving traditional letters. I usually save and compile them in my treasure box. It's a great memorabilia, unlike emails you just store in it your inbox. Both have its pros and cons, but I really like the way email works coz I could communicate with my loved ones faster and easier.

hi! Don't you think that important messages should be send by the normal way, by letters, because they are more representative than mails? And if you have and want to send a greeting/post card to someone you love, I think it is better to send it by letter, because the person you send it to, will be happier to receive a real letter than just an e-card via email! don't you think?
4 Mar 10
you're welcome! well, in cases like that it is really better to send an email, because the post office is a little bit lazy, the one here too

Hi phoenix, I see your point. But important messages are sometimes urgent, and I prefer email coz it's a faster way to receive it. Like the other day, my aunt from the states sent me an email saying my other aunt had passed away, such information is urgent, but if she'll mail the letter, it would take days to receive the information. I don't trust our local post office, they're too lazy to send out letters and I experienced coming to them to claim my letter and found it to be tampered. So I rarely send out letters because of that. But I agree with what you said it's nice to receive a real live greeting card rather than the e-card. ;) Thanks for your opinions. :)

I almost never send letters. I would use emails 98% of the time. A couple of times before and after Christmas I had to send leeters to my ex sister in law, as I didnt have her email adress. It is just so much easier doing emails instead of trying to hand write everything.

hi! yes, it is really much easier and faster to send e-card and emails to the people, but I really think that if you want to make them really happy with your epistle, then you should send them a letter. it is really more valuable then the mails!

hi phoenix yes but very few, mostly get well cards or birthday cards as those are special. but every day I email my friends and my son as they all have computers and its so much faster, too the postage now days is high, since I have a computer and monitor its silly not to use it to keep in touch with my family and friends. we all do it and thats okay as we still sendletters , snail mail, when its really needed.

hi! yes, we all use the computers to communicate, and I also don't think there is nothing wrong with it, but I really wanted to know what are you people do, to communicate with you family and friends. because I know that nowadays letters are something really forgotten or maybe not, and we should really try to send few from time to time to the people we care for, just to make them happy!

no, since most of my friends and relatives have access to the internet, we exchange notes via internet. we usually chat, go to facebook chat, and other social networking sites. even before they got hooked with the internet, we send short messages, through celphones. but in the office, we still need hardcopy of reports, to be legal.

well, yes at work there are many people, maybe even all of us, who still send and receive letters, but I really don't think that the letters we get and send at work, are the same as the letters to our beloved ones. the letters to them are special and with some feeling in it, and the office ones are just some announcements :(

I have to admit I can't remember the last time I used the paper mail for communication with somebody. All of my conversations are being done via the Internet, because it's very simple, comfortable and FAST! My postal communication is limited to receiving packages with products I've purchased online and some official letters with bills or stuff, but that's all, I don't send anything using postal mail.

Hell0! yes, I also use the internet and the phone too as a faster and easier way to communicate with my family, friends, and other online friends, but as I've told to the others, sometimes we must really try to send a letter to the people we love and respect the most, because this is a very special way to show them our love and our respect to them

hi! I am sorry if you think I have cribbed it from you, but I actually didn't knew that you have started one like that already. my apology once again So you are really right about that, that the letters writing is something, that can't be replaced, because we create something, we touch it, we can smell it, and it is not just a common email or chat msg!

I still write letters, to family and friends. I send letters to my mother as she now lives in a care home and I write letters to family overseas.
5 Mar 10
hi! yes, we must send letters to our family members and friends. And i am 100000% sure that your mother, who is in a care home is really happy when she get a letter from you, and even if she has a computer there, she will be still happier to receive letters than emails BE HAPPY

I think that most people that own a computer and have internet access have shifted over from the traditional mail, to the electronic one. Its more convenient that way I think. Its cheaper, faster and you can do it any time of the day. This is at leas the case with me. The only mail I receive is bills and things I have bought online. For everything else I send or receive emails.
4 Mar 10
hi! yes, i agree with you that the e-communication is faster and cheaper, but as i told to the others, writing a letter is something completely different from the emails that we send and receive every single day! the feeling to hold the letter in your hands and read it is something really unrepeatable!
