How much do your score in the exam matter? what could be the reasons behind getting low marks besides not preparing? I sometimes wonder why if someone is average and someone is intelligent.
In my opinion, scores matter - it gives you an insight of your knowledge and boosts our self-confidence to handle real-time situations, which is application of our knowledge.

To be frank enough, I would say that there is a big difference between studying and obtaining marks. Given a particular book which is being used to teach in some institute, you dont have to study the entire thing to obtain marks, but only a selective part. Thats what makes the topper different, they know what to study to get marks. Knowledge is gained only when one has interest in that particular topic.

I honestly believe that one of the main reasons that people don't score well on tests is that they have severe test anxiety. I know that was the case for myself when I was a student. I could be prepared for any kind of test, I could know the stuff forward and backward, but when I was in the actual test situation I would freeze up. There is something about being under that kind of stress that makes me have severe anxiety.

I guess that depends largely on your aspirations in life. If a person is looking towards a career in many fields, the exam scores count a lot. Career opportunities in some higher academic fields are rather scarce, and it is only right that those who have the best chances of success are the ones who get the positions. They have shown an ability and a commitment.
I sometimes wonder why if someone is average and someone is intelligent.
Even in the same family, with the same upbringing and the same opportunities, there will be some children who are "brighter" than others. There might be one who excels at manual talents, one with mental or academic talents, one with artistic qualities. There might be one who easily takes in and absorbs information and one who has to really study to achieve the same results. Personalities differ.
Knowledge is acquired. The right application of the knowledge we receive is wisdom.

I think utterly incompetence in the teaching methods is one way. There are some teachers that are not fit to teach the subject and thus are unable to properly do it to have a lot of the students understand. Granted, there are some students who are able to get by even by the fact that the teachers would not be able to teach anyone but those who do not, really suffer big time.
I think the exam scores matter to an extent. After all, if I pass, that means I have proven my mastery of that subject. Not to mention the fact that if I do not pass, that means I will be forced to take that subject once again. There are a lot of subjects that are bad enough to take once never mind again. And yes, I agree, it does give you an insight of what you know and how much you know.

hi. student's score less mainly because nowadays more emphasis is not given to marks obtained. practical knowledge and self confidence is more important in getting jobs. students are doing part time jobs along with studies. they are not dependent on marks to get a job.

getting low score doesnr't mean you haven't learn well. someone is just not fit the testbook. for my part,i think you shouldn't be upset for low score as your actual capacity is much more important nowadays
