I was talking with someone one day so the subject of bathing came up, she said when she takes a bath she don't think about it she just does it, I said anything you do has a though but as I am writing this maybe she meant instinct, lets see, someone is about to fall you instintively reach out to grab them, your walking down the stairs you instintively hold on so you wont fall right? so bathing/eating/dressing I say we think about these things before we do it, what do you say?
Sometimes I would like to get into peoples head because some people say the darndest things and that is being nice
So my friends thoughts/instinct what is your take? same or different
Thanking you for your feedback.

I feel the same way you do on this. I think things like bathing, eating or dressing have to do with your schedule and you have to do them accordingly. The other you mentioned is instinctual. People do say the darndest things. There used to be a show on hosted by Art Linkletter called Kids Say The Darndest Things. It was pretty cute.

I usually think things through, what I'm going to do, in what order. I always thought I was peculiar for doing that.

Hello my friend
I don't see anything wrong with that, if other did this I honestly feel things will be so different for many people, I talk with some people they may say something forgetting I already know the situation, they lie/add-lib so I say to myself or them depending on the situation, what the heck, when I talk to people I speak from my heart, I had people say to me stop lying not in a disrespectful manner but because they are use to people talking to hear themselves they feel every does this and that is not the case, I will never change the way I think, I will continue to think about my actions/responses considering our word[/b/[b]actions means alot when people take take things like this as a joke it really bothers me.
Thanks for sharing my friend.

Hi kitty, an interesting discussion, but in my opinion, I think it would be more habitual than instinct. I also thing a lot of us get instinct confused with reflective, a reaction triggered by another act. Well that's what I think. Have a great day, kitty.

Hello Kitty!
I don't think you want to get into my head.. you would die of extreme shock!!
But I think general things like bathing is all just impulse and you don't have to keep thinking of it. You think of it once and it's registered in your brain and so you just do it without the need of thinking of it.

Hello my friend
So good to see you here, how have you been?
So you see that is my point, not that you have to dwell on it, but before you actually do it, the thought does cross your mind, if not then how did you get in the bathroom to begin with, you see what I mean, maybe I am not explaining myself properly, bottom line is our actions stem from our thoughts be it alot of thought or a little thought...other wise how can we do anything that would make us robot-like in my opinion.
Hope you understand what I am trying to say.
Thanks my friend.

I understand now. How can anyone explain the way our hands shampoo the hair? If we use thinking when applying shampoo that thought would read like: "Put shampoo on hands then shampoo left hair then right hair and all of the remaining hair and repeat the process, do it 7 times with the hands just circling and circling until the whole hair gets shampooed." It's amazing that this thought dont occur during shampooing and this might be her reason for saying that she does not think but just do it.

Its not so much instinct as it is routine or habit. Bathing, touch typing, driving; these are things that humans do so many times that the action becomes subconscious. You don't need an active, conscious thought to do these things, because when you have done them so many time, subconscious takes over and handles the task for you. I hope this helps your understanding.

hi
i think she wanted to say Impulse decesion, that she dont decide time to take bath, whenever she feels she just grab towel and take bath.
some people dont plan things and dont have set routines, so they can take impulse decesion. but if u talk to me, i have to go for job on 6 days so i have my timing/schedule for everything
take care

Thoughts come in two forms, conscious and unconscious. We are aware of the conscious thoughts not so much aware of the unconscious ones. Habits come under the unaware thoughts. The action referred to in your discussion, bathing is a habit and so done unconsciously. Instinct on the other hand comes from the subconscious and is most often used for basic things like survival.

I know exactly what she means. When I do certain things - like taking pills or my morning shower - I seem to just switch over to auto pilot. I do it the same way at the same times and sometimes I'm not even aware that I've done it, I'll really have to stop and think about if I did take my pill or not.

Ha, my brothers and sisters and I were discussing something similar recently. I think that it may be different for different people. I, personally, don't think like "I need to grab the soap and scrub myself", rather I am thinking of things completely unrelated to what I am doing while I am in the shower - it's just instinct to do what you need to do and I don't need to think about what I am doing.
