Name that moment! Have you ever been talking to someone, whether it be over the phone, the internet, texting, what have you... and you suddenly forget what you wanted to say? Has this ever happened when you were trying to remember something to WIN soemthing? well today my husband and I were listening to the radio and I got to thinking... the radio disc jockey was kind of going a bit fast, but he was a on a time limit with the calls... He asked what the number five song was that he'd played... well the first two didn't get it, the third got part of it right... the disc jockey said it remind with Jake Felton, or something like that and the caller goes "umm... ooo.. umm... er... ugh.. ergh... *gueeses here*" the disc jockey says "close enough" and gives her the prize. Before he gave her the prize though I was saying "Come on just give it to her!"... It was tickets to a concert, four to be exact... but that's not the point of the discussion... Have you ever forgot something important and missed out winning a prize because of it?

Yep! I can vouch for her doing it to a friend over the phone because she's done it to me!

BlueAngelsRS: I know what you mean... You start to say something and then your mind goes blank, usually because something else rushes into your mind, another little thing you didn't want to forget! Purple: That's when you've got to read her mind! :D

Yes I think it's always worse when someones tired or doesn't feel good. For some reason or another, I'm not sure why, but it just seems to happen that way.

I absolutely hate it. If I do not eat enough vegetables, get enough sleep and am not stressed or sick then the memory is better, though I still do forget alot even when everything is good. But when the conditions are not good, it is so bad that I will try to avoid people if possible. I get tired of the looks people give, and have actually had people ask me if I am on something. It is quite embarrassing.

My memory has gottten worse, but I can tell it's starting to get better. I think stress and depression really play a role on a person's memory!

how unfair! You helped her win, but she didn't give you a ticket? Or was it just one ticket they were giving out?

I have never been in a situation where I have lost a prize because of it, but it does happen a lot in my day to day life! I call it all part of getting old! I hate it when I'm talking to someone and all of a sudden I completely lose my train of thought and all that comes out is incoherent ramblings like Ozzy Osbourne! Ok it's probably not that bad, but it's bad enough!

Yep! It is sooooooo frusterating when your trying to explain something and it's right on the tip of your tongue but it just won't come out!

Forgetting something when I was about to mention it, yes, definitely. Although not always, but I do have the tendency of forgetting things especially in the middle of a conversation and when I was about to mention the subject, and I got interrupted by something else. And the worse thing is I tried so hard to remember it but I can't! It get so frustrating when I can't remember. However, because I seldom has lady luck smiling on me, so other than those online lucky draws, I don't have much chances to recall answers for winning something, let alone forgetting the answer when in the midst of the Q&A session.

Oh yes, and then you remember as soon as you get off the phone! It's like it comes to you right after and you either can't call back or it'd be silly to!

It seems like some of the things we tend to forget are silly! Then there's the important stuff, i think those things seem to come back to us later then if it was a silly thing!

Yes! You are totally right about it. I was trying so hard to remember it but once the conversation is over, then the topic just suddenly pops back into my mind and I will go like "argh! that's what I wanted to say just now!" Then I have to leave a sms to my friend or I will just call back because it's too troublesome to leave a message. But definitely if it's something not important, I will just tend to forget it. lol

such kind of things happen to me manytimes in one day, I thought i had a short term memory loss but then i came to realise its not that bad after all there are people out there with whom this thing happens qute frequently. I guess one an avoid this by being more organized , so during competitions i have never faced such problems as i know what info is important and try to hold on to it... Its a different matte if i am caught Offgaurd

hi somecowgirl well it was not about a prize but I really w anted to tell my best friend something and all of a sudden right in the middle of my sentence, zoom I forgot what I was going to say. I felt so stupid because it was something I really wanted to tell her. of course I woke up in ther middle of the night, aha that was what I wanted to tell Nelda, but of course I did not want to call her and tell her at two am so had to wait til we got together again. Ihate that feeling when I am floundering around and she is trying to help me remember.

It never fails, you eventually think of it whether it's when you get right off the phone, or when you get back from visiting with someone, you remember! I try not to help people remember as it can really be a hindrance, I might offer some suggestions but then if that doesn't seem to be helping I keep quiet until it comes to them.

I know what you mean, and I know there are a lot of times you will be talking to me and then something will happen, and you will forget what you were gonna say,and I know it has to annoy the crap out of you,and I know the disc jockey basically gave it to the woman but she could not figure it out but at least she got the tickets since she knew one of the artists on the song Hillbilly Bone, and I do not think I was ever trying to win something and forgot what I was gonna say,but I bet if I was on Jeopardy or something like that and had to say the answer,I would forget because of all the pressure,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

pressure is the big thing though ya know, I'm sure that was the biggest problem for that woman, she was pressured by a time limit. On jeopardy or wheel of fortune or any of those I think I'd lose because of all the pressure, lol.

My husband is a radio dj so one of the disadvantages is that I am not allowed to enter radio contests. I do however sometimes wish I could enter because one of my favorite Country Stars is playing the end of the month and tickets have been sold out for months. The star is Jason Aldene. I like his music.

At any radio station. That is one of the questions they ask you. They ask if you or someone in your family works for a radio station.

Not really, but I did kind of forget to buy the lottery ticket once, I have these numbers that I've written down and every week I half heartedly aim to buy a ticket for them and last week it was the same, I was just a bit too lazy to get up to buy the ticket, thinking, it won't ever come up, but surprise surprise, three of the numbers came up that day and of course I hadn't bought the ticket!

Oh, ya, this has happened to me. And my girlfriend always remembers, is very calm and answers in the time allowed. Me, I get all nervous and can't think. We both know the answer but calm, cool and collected gets it answered in the time when I am all nervous and jumpy. What is up with that?

I don't go for radio prizes or anything like that, but I have forgotten something that seemed important at the time. It would always frustrate me to no end, but I realize there is nothing I can do about it. It will come back to me when it needs to be, if at all. But, it hasn't happened in a while. Maybe I should cross my fingers so I don't jinx myself.

I've never forgotten something when I'm going to win but I do tend to just randomly forget things. I think everyone does! For example, sometimes I'll walk into a room and be going to get something and forget completely what I was doing! Then I'll go to sit back down and remember. It's so frustrating. Sometime I'll be thinking of too many things at once and forget what I was talking about too.
