I'm in my late 4o's, and my skin especially the face, arm and legs are very dry. Seldom did I put on lotion during my younger days. Do you think if I started using lotion religiously now, will I still have that soft and smooth skin that I have been wanting? What kind of lotion should I use. Thanks for the help!

I can understand your situation and there are ways to bring your skin back to normal. Don't expect over night changes it will take some time and you have to use these methods regularly. You can treat your skin internally as well as externally. Internal treatments are balance diet and consumption of more water. External treatments are applying good moisturizing cream daily, avoid hot water for washing and also try to avoid soap daily and instead of soap use recommended good shower gel for skin.

Hi junrapmian
I too crossed 40 years. My skin is also now a days becoming dry. So after taking bath, I am applying almond oil for the hands, face and legs. And 30 mts. before going to bath I will apply olive oil. In this way I am able to maintain my skin soft and smooth

Hydrating your skin from inside is as important as hydrating it from outside so do remember to drink plenty of water too.
A few drops of glycerin on your damp skin will prevent your skin from drying out during the day. Also, if you have a bath with very hot water you will dry the skin out more than usual so keep the temperature of the bath water just warm.
A good night time skin moisturizer will work wonders too AND Don't forget the sunscreen.
