Modesty: In or Out?

A few days ago when I was out with my pals we got into this hot topic about women, Let's admit it there are so many scantily dressed women walking around the store, in tv shows, tv ads, print ads, in the internet, they are just all around. My gal pals voiced out that it looked sexy but slu**y and then one of my guy friend commented about modesty being a thing of the past. He said when a woman dress up modestly most people would comment on the person as being old fashioned and conservative. Is modesty really just a thing of the past? How do you view modesty? Which do you prefer a women who dress up modestly or those that leaves little to the imagination? How can a woman still be attractive without selling herself short?

hi again! hope you are not fed up with me already well, i really don't care about fashion and that are girls modesty or not. I really don't care, because for me the outside is not that important as the inner s. I mean the outside- the clothes, the make-up etc. of course I like beautiful girls, but I actually can't be with a girl who is just pretty and has nothing in her head I just can't be with the so-called "dolls", because there must be also something what we can talk about together, to do together. there are really many girls, who are dressed up really modesty, but they don't attract me, because I know them, and know that they are just "outside" and no "inner"

I think, it is not about the size of the cloths. I think it is all about how you wear it. What colors! If the colors are too bright and misplaced, it would make a sl**y appearance, regardless of how much body is exposed/covered, etc... Beauty is dependent of many factors, all of which must gel with each other... Together these factors speak a lot! I don't know how to explain it in details... But there is a lot that can be written about it... :) Have fun candyfairy21!

well as a mother of a teenaged daughter and an almost teenaged daughter, i would have to say that modestly has taken a noticeable vacation these days. even if you look at the stores for clothes for them, they all seem to be selling very short skirts/shorts and skimpy tops.

Now this is from observations I've made many times in the past. When I went out anywhere covered up no man even gave me a second look where as if I went in a pretty dress and high heels every male (and some female) heads turn around staring. I see this happen to other women all the time too and not just me. This is probably why women dress this way because its the only way a man will even take the time to get to know us for who we are.

Modesty is not in what others look at us. In short dressing old fashioned, let people comment it never mind. According to me, dressing should be decent. Not to sell out ourself. Simplicity is best attractiveness. Rather say attractive, being simple without too much of makeups, will make one more beautiful in the world..my belief!!

I believe that a woman can appear sexy without being sl*tty or revealing too much. A woman can look good by dressing nice clothes without being vulgar or scanty dress. I don't think that modesty is something of the past. Modesty is essential if a woman wants to be respected. If she does not respect herself, no one will respect her.

I agree with your girlfriends that ,yes, they look s**ty. And definitely, your guy friend answers like a typical male. A woman has to be attractive but not to the point that she sends out a wrong signal to people that she is "all". I should say that women becomes sexier or attractive if she has the right mindset of what she wants to exude even if she wears simple clothes.it ain't old fashioned.

Hello there.. For me personally, I go with the inner beauty of someone too. Skimpy clothes and all that are not really shining as inner beauty for sure. When someone has a great personality, dresses modestly and speaks gently, that's a true beauty for sure.

Trend setters decide what is in and what is out. Those who want to follow the trend they have to accept whatever is in and it could be that at a particular point in time it could be that revealing clothes would be in fashion -noodle straps, exposing inner wear etc for example was in fashion for a time. These youngsters do it to be with the 'in' crowd and may not have anything in their mind. There were times when clothing from head to toe was in vogue too!!

Modesty depends upon the culture you've been brought up.It's nothing to do with how you dress up.It's very difficult to wear dress that would cover up whole your body in countries of equator region. It entirely depends upon the persons maturity and curiosity.A married man doesn't have the curiosity about the opening in an woman's dress like that you stated.Hence I'll strike the cord which states modesty comes from inside.
