What if you knew that your parents have read your diary? Will you get mad? Don't you think it is their right to know whatever that is happening with you?
If ever I will know that my parents read my diary, I will never get mad at them. Instead, I will understand that they just want to know what is going on with my life,. I never want to hide anything from them. Although I want to make my love life a bit confidential, not because I am doing something bad, but because I am shy to inform them about this. lol. I will just act normally and as usual. How about you? Will you hate them if they read yours?

Well, of course, just like you, I won't be mad at them even though I have to because that's really not right. However, I can't be really mad at them. I will feel really embarrassed. And like you, I'll just try to act normal. I will just try to forget that they have read it.

I don't live with my parents anymore, so they don't really have the chance to read my diary. I have told my husband that I don't want him to read my diary and he respects my privacy.
While I was still living at home I also kept a diary, but my parents have never read it. One day when my mother and I were going through some old things, we found my mother's old diary and I asked her if I could read it. She said no, I was pretty curious and I asked her more than once, but she never changed her decision and always refused to let me read it. It was too private and she didn't want to share it with me. She also considers my diaries private, and I think that is the reason why she has never tried to find them or read them. If I had discovered that she had been reading my diary without asking me I would get angry, because I sometimes write about things that I don't want other people to read.

Well I'd be a bit annoyed because stuff in diaries is often private. Fine if you don't like to keep anything private but most of us do.

According to me a diary should not be written in an open-to-all form.We write personal issues in a diary so that the events passed be an asset for life-so that we remember facts.Somebody called Oscar Wild said 'art lies in hiding art'.So there exists other form of writing called art which hides the truth from the reader and at the same time makes you remember the whole story.A detailed conversation is not required because it looses interest within a few days.A poetry or a prose would suffice. You don't need to be an expert because you are not writing the diary to send it for a publication.Anyway,if,however, your diary secrets gets opened up,tell me how imaginative you are in personification of character!

My parents read my journal when I was a kid, and I felt I could never trust them as they went snooping for this was was hidden in a very specific place.
I still write a journal though, but now it is on my network, and done as a password protected file that only I know the password to.

Hi reco13,
I don't keep a diary nowadays coz I have no time to write, but I do have them when I was a younger teen. If my parents read them, I would just blush and laugh out whatever they've read. Coz it's really a long time ago and my diary is full of simple, cheesy, mushy, teeny things that is normal for every teenager. There's nothing to hide there so I'm confident. However, I admit I would be a little annoyed at my parents not because they read my diary, but because they've been poking around with my private things. I would talk to them and tell them I'm not comfortable if they're browsing around, but I would not be mad at them. Maybe they're just curious and wants to know more about me coz I'm always in my room.

Sorry I don't have a diary, but if i have it, i possible safe diary on a safe place. Where my parents can't get it, and if I had diary i will buy it with the key. Now for the affairs, i be very angry if my parents read my diary, i think it is my personal thing like document, and my parents can't read it and touch it. As far as I understand you allow the parents to read your diary. This is nothing special, because your parents worried about you, and your life. And for i don't hate my parents if they read my diary, I certainly would angry. But if I am angry to my parents, next day I'm not angry to my parents, but I am pleased.

I think everybody needs a secret place only he has the keys to, it's only healthy for one's development. I guess I'd get angry if my mum read my diary, if I kept a diary that is, the only diary I keep is electronical and my writing also tends to reflect my current mood. I'm safe that way cause my mum would nev ready er snoop on my laptop and she doesn't read my writing either :p

I don't have any diary because i am afraid that anyone can read it. Before I can remember that i have written something in a piece of paper the anger i have felt for my mother but i crumbled the piece of paper and just throw it over the garbage can but unfortunately when my mother cleaned the room she saw what i have written and then she approach and confront me why i have written like that about her, she was crying in front of me ... with that instance i don't know what to do ... so i am not keeping anything like a diary because i am afraid anyone can read it and then i can make them feel hurt and so bad.

Hi friend. 2003. I had the habit of writting diary and wrote all everything about my life even bad aspects. One day i wrote " i have drunk today due to tense". My father read it secretly and began to scold me. I kept myself silent and decided not to write diary anymore. And now i just note some moments in my notebook.
