Is Life Unfair???

Do you ever feel like you work and work and save and save and most always try to do the right thing, but you always seem to end up with the short end of the stick? Well, that's how I am beginning to feel. I am in a situation where I have stuck by someone over and over. That person had even convinced me that they had changed at some point, but I am not buying it anymore and I am way over it! So, what I am starting to think is life is what you make it so maybe I have been being unfair to myself for all these years. What do you think, do you think life is unfair or is it what we make of it?

There have been times when I've thought life has been unfair, what did I do to deserve this, etc. But fortunately, they're few and far between. Most of the time, my work, the way I live my life, my friendships, etc. have paid off. It's what you make of it.

You are right, I guess we should just be thankful for what we have because things usually work out for the best!

hi CHumphreys Whoever told you life was always fair needs to have his rear end kicked as life is a series of ups and down, and fair pretty much does not enter into it. We can make life any way we want it to be to a certain extent but then other things intervene and we have to be flexible. be like the willow, bend but do not break. life tests you and if you pass the test you can move on, this is called survival. and we all have to learn one way or another, happiness is yours when you decide you are happy. Be a survivor and smile smile smile.

I love the symbol you use of the willow for life's ups and downs. Thank you for your response and insight!

I believe life is more often what you make of it. It isn't what happens in life that counts, but our attitude to what happens. I am not denying that some people have it tough. I wonder how some people cope. On the other hand, I also know people who have suffered much and yet are still optimistic, happy, satisfied people. The old saying still applies, even though it might be easier said than done: When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade.

I agree with you, the attitude you approach situations with sure does seem to impact what the outcome is. The choices we make usually gets us where we are so it has to be somewhat in our control.

Yeah I think about that always and it filled my heart with distrust for life and the people around me. In short it created a negative impact in my personal development. If we always think that life is unfair we may never have the chance to explore more of life because we always think that life will never go on our direction it will always opposed us. So that will make our life stagnant and sad. We must give life a chance to proved that sometimes destiny favors our wills and goals in life because in that way we are already accepting the positive flow in our life and things will start to turn good and wonderful. Just be positive always and don't let others drag you down because life is not always unfair.

I dont think life is unfair. But i do think people complicate our life sometimes, and make it quite unfair. Just for lying and hurting you , or people you care , when they dont deserve it.

We make the life unfair. It's our nature to want to stay on top. At the very last, whether our lives are at the end of the stick or not, we can only move forward or stay and let the way they are.

I really believe life is just unfair! Why would we get stuck with parents we ended up with otherwise? Why would we end up growing up where we did? Why do some people seem to know what the heck they want to do as a preteen? Why do some people make it big with one talent and others with no talent at all? Why! It is because life is unfair and trying to make life the way you make it is a bunch of bull! So you can see I REALLY BELIEVE LIFE IS UNFAIR! ESPECAILLY FOR ME! Life sucks and always has!

Yes life can be unfair, only if we let it be. We need to put our foot down and start thinking about ourselves. We cannot always trust and depend on others. That will get us nowhere. And yes i am feeling exactly as you do. But we just cannot give up, can we? TATA.

Life itself is not unfair. All it means you to grow up with knowledge and experience. And all that is unfair is to drive away all the rigidness in your mind which you'll learn gradually. You'll loose all ego and selfishness by the play of God so that you become strong and invincible.See what makes you think life is unfair? You've already started to think why this has happened to me.This search for truth is required time to time when necessary so that you grow more of a matured kind.Later you won't regret for the phase that seems to be unfair to you because you are within it.When you'll come out off it learning valuable lessons you'll appreciate the past time.

Yes some people do think that life is unfair. They do every thing that they can to get the long end of the stick but they always came up with he short end. Call it Destiny that in some time some part of our lives we are in the stumble in a ditch in the dark. But put your Faith in the Lord he will pick you up and guide you /us to the light that has bountiful begining and a bright tomorrow

of course life is unfair i see around some people was born in a rich family,in a rich country even they did not have any skill, but they are having a enjoyable life which is just imagination of other people in some poor country who must work very hard to get food ,why cannot everyone get a stable life where all of us having the same destiny ,same starting point, make the world better.

Dear CHumphreys, from my opinion life isn't unfair but all thing that happened have the reasons. Maybe it is some kind of challenge in your life which you have to face it. Those challenges will turn to be positive or negative and it is all up to you to decide. We must always remember that if we feel in real trouble there are others who actually faces more troubles than us. Give yourself some time and think approprietly. You actually can handle it with your own ways. Be positive and never give up!

Hi CHumphreys! I understand perfectly what you're talking about, especially because I'm 37 and that sort of (bad) things you describe have (probably) happened to me hundreds of times more than to you, for you're younger than I. Feel happy about that, hehe! By the way, in the present time I'm having to manage one of those unfair situations life brings us sometimes, so I've been thinking a lot about that question you're asking: is life unfair itself or it's just what we make of it? What I think at this stage of y life is that life's not one, neither the other thing. Life cannot be unfair itself, for if it was, everyone would be absolutely unhappy - ando you, I and everybody know that's ot true. In the other hand, life's not just what we make of it, beause there are people that usually do their best the most of the time, but even acting like tis, life seems not to be fair with them... I'm not a religious person, but if I were I would have to stop being, for even not being religious I have to confess, proudly, that I'm very Christian by the way I live my life, so God would have not to be that good. Then I prefer to be a logical person, so I use to think about life as a mathematical model where anything that could happen, happens, by chance. If I believed God exists I would do believe he throw dices with our lives. The most difficult point to understand is why bad things happen by chance more often to some people than to other... Anyway, probably life would be of no interest if we could know everything about it, so I think that the doubts are the reason for we keep living our lives and keep trying to do them better every time something goes wrong. Fortunately, you're young, and I'm sure you're going to discover many things about yourself and about life that are going to make you happier than you're now. I hope so, sincerely! What I try to keep in mind is that I have to act always in a way that represents for me what I believe is true, good and correct, for it's the only way of feeling fine if the thing goes wrong: if that's the only way I could've done it and it went wrong, that's logically inevitable. (sorry for my bad English, I'm Brazilian)
