I bought 2 rat terriers, brother and sister last April 2009. They were 7 weeks at the time. In July the girl got bit in the nose by a copperhead. She made it ok, except the demodex mites took over because her immune system was compromised. We have rtied everything from Vet medicine (which made her vomit so bad) to dips of sulfurated lime, to benzoil peroxide, but the poor thing is almost bald and her skin is so scaly. Does anyone know how to beat this thing?

I am sorry to hear that, I worked as a vet technician at one time and demodex is hard to get rid of, and as far as I know sometimes cant even get rid of it completely. All I really can say to do is exactly what the vet is doing for her now and hope it takes care of it, it may take sometime. Good luck and I fell for you and the dog.
