The Usb port is having trouble reading your flash drive. Sometimes flash drives don't have a physical switch, but configuration settings that can be accessed when its plugged into the computer. Simply look at your properties or see if there is a settings option. If neither are avaible, test the port with another usb drive, and see if you run into the same problem. This will determine if your seral ports are crupted and aren't reading the material you plug into them.

i already did what you have said to your response,, i did the trial and error method,, and even tweaked the registry for enabling write protect and disabling it,, i've also come up with using the administrative tools in xp's disk management but none of it worked... and i'm also aware that this is not a port issue,, because i'm a computer technician... anyways thnks for the response... if you know some secrets there on how to troubleshoot this kind of case pls. do reply to this post,,

it could have happended due to many possible reasons. one reason could include virus that has infected your drive. if it is a sd, mmc, or mini sd card that you are using in a card reader, then make sure that the card is not locked. check the small plastic lever and move it then try again

This problem is due to only Virus, Your system is affected by Virus like trojan or other kido. If you format your pen drive in any other PC that have a good antivirus, defiantly your pen drive will format and also will remove safely when you remove, YOu can use your friend's system, or lapotop, if not then use cyber cafe PC. GUD LUCK
