do you think a bit of humor will hurt a quality post..
what i feel is a bit of humor does not affect anyone as long as its not hurting... at the same time we should also take care that... the quality of the post does not go down.. if both these conditions are satisfied then i do not find anything wrong in adding a bit of humor to the posts..
what do you feel regarding this..

I almost always add humor to even the most serious posts. I don't think it hurts the post at all, it usually adds something to it. Obviously you need to have good judgment. For example, I wouldn't joke in a post that's about child molestation or something.

There are serious topics on here that we discuss, and sometimes adding appropriate humor to them makes them a little easier to deal with and talk about. I think that is wonderful. There are times when humor is totally inappropriate due to the seriousness and severity of a particular topic or discussion, though, and most people know the difference between the two times.
On the other hand, I believe that a quality post can be humorous in its entirety. Sometimes we just need to be a little lighthearted and maybe even silly with our discussions, and that is not a bad thing either, in my opinion. Humor does not make a post lower quality, and sometimes we just need to laugh and not be so serious about things.
Of course, I think that there needs to be a good mix of different types of discussions not only to keep people interested but also to appeal to the diversity of the population here on myLot. We have users from all over the world, so what is humorous to some might be misunderstood by others. If we have a diversity of subjects as well as different approaches to similar subjects, then it allows people to find their own way to relate to the issues.

I really like the humor in some of the posts, as if I am having a bad day, then it helps make me feel better and I don't think about the fact things weren't going to good. Mylot is really good for what ails you that is for sure. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't be in mylot anymore, as I have so much fun, that I just can't put it into words. I come in here hoping ot learn things, and I have, and I hope to continue to learn as well. What I have learned in here far surpasses the earnings that I have received, shich isn't a lot, but it all does add up over time. I hope to be here for a long time to come. good luck to you and happy mylootting.

Of course my friend. It won't hurt. Actually I believe that adding a touch of humor to a discussion would make it even more easy to relate with. The more people feel that they are one with you, the more comments you will get. Not that we are aiming for comments. Of course the only way that we will get noticed is by catching other mylotter's attention. One way of doing that is by not boring them. LOLZ.

Humor is good everywhere... It will definitely be a good thing to read a quality post with some humor added to it... That will be like adding spice to a perfect dish.. :) I have read a few articles by Mark Twain and he has always added humor to what he wrote... It makes the articles readable and enjoyable and attractive... Humor also may receive massive response...
But yes, as you say, one must take care that it doesn't affect the quality of the post... Happy myLotting!

i think adding humor to posts or almost anything we do or say in this life would be in good taste if they are done with just that, "taste". that means no one would be hurt and the sole purpose is to lighten up a heavy discussion, air or statement.

I like humour, and I think that adding a note of humour in a post is not a bad thing. You can speak about topics in many ways, and fore some people is better to be serious with this, but for others is better to add some humour to make the others smile.
Humour well used is always welcome

I like it that many myLotters show they have a sense of humour. You have to be aware, though, that when you're talking to someone, they can see your expression and hear your tone of voice so will know when you're joking. They don't always know that when it's written in black and white.
I've sometimes (not on myLot) written what I thought was a light-hearted comment to someone, only to have them take it really seriously and upset them. I think humour is different all over the world too. Here in England we tend to make fun of ourselves and other people. We have a very dry and ironic sense of humour. It doesn't always translate well in other cultures.
I tend to write an exclamation mark or a :) after a light-hearted comment. I don't have enough posts yet to use emoticons - but they too can point out your intention. I'm fairly slow to take offence but some people are very sensitive! Personally, I love it when other people try to cheer up a post with a bit of humour.
